Parody Accounts Set Twitter On Fire

To all those Twitter addicts like me, I'm sure you are well aware of the existence of several parody accounts on the microblogging site.

In fact, there are many of them but only a few stand out. I tend to like those whose content focuses more on Showbiz gossips, current events, politics, and pop culture... and did I mention bashing? Oh how I love them when they do it all the time (well, at least some of them do!).

Let's start with the funniest of the bunch, @superstarmarian (Marian Rivera-Dantes). Marian Rivera is famous for being cheap, mal-educated, and yes, the woman behind GMA's main man DingDong Dantes. She's also famous for being a bitch, kulong banyo queen, and barely there English communication skills. This goes without saying that I am NOT a hater of her. In fact, she has one of the most beautiful faces in Philippine show business.

@superstarmarian successfully played on Marian's character and turned her into an instant darling on Twitter. Though the real Marian Rivera used to have her own Twitter account (I don't know if it's still existing), it is @superstarmarian that has captured the hearts of the Philippine Twitterverse. With more than 100,000 followers, she's one of the most popular parody accounts in the country.

What I like about her is that she seems to be very humble (an antithesis to the original Cavitena girl). She expressed her thoughts on current events, politics, show business, and many more. And yes, she tweets them in a very peculiar way, in barok English, if I may say.  Her tweets are definitely funny. She doesn't try hard to get your attention but successfully does so. Sometimes, it's funny when fans of Marian Rivera lashes at her and @superstarmarian appears to never take them seriously.

Last but not the least, I can't get over her Twitter description, which reads "I'm a Psychology," based on Marian's famous reply when asked about her college major. @superstarmarian is just hilarious. I actually hope that the real Marian Rivera would be at least half as nice as her. That way, she'll be loved by more Filipinos.

Let's move on to my other favorite parody account, @krisaQUInoSTD, now known as @krizzy_kalerQUI. The change on her popular Twitter name came after the presidential sister Kris Aquino begged her to change it. While I'm not really keen on @krizzy_kalerqui's change of Twitter name, because that's what made her famous, there's nothing we can do now. She still has Kris's picture anyway.

twitter parody account

@krizzy_kalerqui (krizzy kalerQUI) has almost 70,000 followers and boy, I'm not surprised! Her posts are really entertaining. She bashes. She criticizes. She says whatever she wants. She's the real deal! Her posts vary from personal stuff to her advocacy against Globe to bashing celebrities and other personalities on Twitter. But she doesn't stop there. She's known to give away the answers to Fashion Pulis' blind items on his blog. She's also known for her naughty posts especially on late nights. And yes, most of her posts are for Adult's Only. Don't tell me I didn't warn you.

While she hasn't been free from controversy, such as her spat with Jamich, Chris Chug, and some members of the press, she remains to be one of the most influential and most trusted parody accounts on Twitter. This can be proven by the sheer number of retweets being made by her followers, I being one of them. She's also able to trend Twitter topics, at least in the Philippines.

I'm sure playing on the character of Kris Aquino had a hand in making her parody account this popular. After all, @krizzy_kalerqui acknowledges on her profile that she's "the one and only queen of media hype". And yes, she is "brutally honest" like the tactless Kris Aquino. Also, another thing about @krizzy_kalerqui, she seems to be pro-PNoy, which is not at all surprising considering she chose to portray Kris Aquino.

There's much to love about @krizzy_kalerqui as she maintains the balance of good and bad things about the personalities on Twitter and the things happening around us. Some may not like her, but to me, she and her posts are irresistible. And don't forget the #kalerQUI hashtag at the end of her posts.

Last but not the least is @AngeL_LoCkring (AngeL_LoCkring). I'm sure many of you don't know her but as her name states, she is the parody account of one of the countries hottest babes, Angel Locsin. She seems to be a wild card entry on this article. After all, there are many more famous parody accounts on Twitter. But hey, this is my blog and I decide. Haha.

twitter parody account

She may have less than 2,000 followers but hey, regular Twitter users hardly have 300 followers. So that's already something. For quite some time, she stopped tweeting but now she is back and yes, she is fiercer than ever. Her posts are similar to @krizzy_kalerqui's. Both of them bash people but who doesn't? And most of her posts are controversial, suggesting they are both entertaining and oh so juicy.

Her posts tend to focus on Philippine show business as well and gives her unadulterated review of teleseryes, news, and whatnots. She also answers some of Fashion Pulis' blind items. And lately, her posts are usually followed by QuiLurky, possibly a play on @krizzy_kalerqui's #kalerQUI.

One thing I admire about her is that she's friendly and she replies to her followers, something that many parody accounts do not do. So, that's a plus for her. Lastly, I believe that she'll also be as famous as @superstarmarian and @krizzy_kalerqui someday (in terms of followers and retweets) for as long as she continues working hard on her parody account.

So there you have it guys, those are the top 3 parody accounts on Twitter, in my humble opinion. Feel free to follow them at your own risk. If you are not into bashing, adult entertainment, and other worldly stuff, then I suggest you delete your account on cyberspace because you have no room on the Internet. Just kidding!

I'm just happy that there are people like them who work hard to keep our Twitter feed more entertaining and less boring. Maybe, one day, you guys too will come up with your own parody accounts. Just maybe...

On Winning the Samsung Olympic Games Promo

This just in and I didn't expect it. I was chosen as one of the winners of London2012 Olympic Games promo by Samsung on the Samsung App Market.

samsung

This came as a surprise considering the number of possible raffle entries to the said contest. It says on their page that I won a Samsung App Voucher, which I can use to buy applications, even games, from the Samsung App Market. I expect to get the voucher tomorrow, September 7, as stated on their website.

samsung

I'm now thinking of which apps to purchase. I really hope that the voucher is at least worth PhP1,000 so that I could buy at least 4 premium apps. I'm really excited and I can't contain it. I'm now starting to love Samsung as a brand. Although my switch to Galaxy S III was not at all a surprise, I was also thinking of getting the iPhone's latest iteration coming next week. But then again, I already bought an S III and I love it.

I actually plan to do a review on it in the days to come.

Til then...

Best Free Android Apps (Social Media)

Android has come a long way since its birth. We now have Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for a buttery smooth user experience, which is its latest iteration. Its application store, known as the Google Play Store, is now almost as big and as extensive as the Apple App Store in its repository of apps with almost 600,000 applications. And yes, many are free albeit ads-sponsored.

A lot of applications have also been carried over by major app developers from iOS to Android, which makes the latter almost at par with the former in terms of quality applications to offer. Do note that not every application available in the Play Store is compatible to every Android smartphone. Certain apps have specific requirements such as a certain screen resolution, RAM, internal storage, graphics chip, and CPU clock-speed. Well, enough about this and let's start with my review.

Let me enumerate my favorite FREE Android apps at the moment. My focus would be on Social Media on this one.

I'll start off with the usual suspects:
1. Facebook
2. Twitter
3. Instagram

social mediasocial mediasocial media

These three would probably be your favorite social media applications and I can't blame you. They are very easy to use and will always keep you in touch with your family, friends, and colleagues.

Aside from the above mentioned, I would also suggest that you download:
4. Flipboard
5. LinkedIn
6. Skype

Flipboard is a cool way to view and read your Facebook Timeline. It shows your Twitter and LinkedIn feeds too. Flipboard aggregates social networking sites, news channels, and blogs into a magazine type of application for easy reading.

social mediasocial mediasocial media

LinkedIn is a social networking site for professionals who are into networking, headhunting, job-hunting, and the like.

And Skype is my favorite video-conferencing tool! It works like Yahoo! Messenger, only better!

And I'm sure that many of you have jumped in the Google+ and Pinterest bandwagon. While I don't have an account on both platforms, I'm quite familiar with how they work. Google+ is Google's take on Facebook while Pinterest enables you to share the things you find online by pinning, allowing you to create your own pin board. Like Google+, I'm sure you'll also enjoy watching videos on your YouTube app, which comes preinstalled on your Android smartphone. And with Adobe Flash Player, you can view Flash-based videos on it as well, like VEVO.

7. Google+
8. Pinterest
9. YouTube

social media
The last of my favorite social media apps that you can download for free is Waze. It offers maps, directions, turn-by-turn navigation, and social media integration. Actually, it's the best free navigation app out there. You can integrate it to your Facebook and Twitter accounts to see friends who use Waze and also get points by contributing to the Waze community.

10. Waze

social media

I know you are wondering why I didn't include other popular social media apps like Foursquare and Tumblr. This is because I am not really a fan of checking in online and sharing photos. I believe that these features can already be done using Facebook.

So there you have it. I hope you enjoyed reading it. These are just my favorite social media apps. Stay tuned for more Android app categories and iOS too!

Product Review: Microsoft Arc Mouse

So I just got my new Microsoft Arc Mouse delivered in white this afternoon. What can I say? It's definitely a looker. It look classy and neat. But what about functionality?

Let's move on to my review.

While this isn't a new product, this is something new to me as I haven't used a wireless mouse before. So, I'm excited to use it and abuse it. Lels.

First off, it's got a nice, sturdy packaging that won't get crushed while in the delivery process. It's made of hard plastic. Inside the box is the mouse itself, a USB transceiver, 2 pcs of AAA Energizer batteries, a carrying pouch, and some leaflets. So, it's got the basics covered.

As a social media analyst and a blogger, it is very important for me to be able to work efficiently. So, no less than a good mouse with great usability is what I need.

As I've mentioned, mine is colored white. It's kinda off white- to be exact- and the top part is hyperglazed. Quite a looker! The bottom part, which contains the battery port and transceiver dock, is grayish in color and has a waxy texture. That waxy texture is what I don't like as it seems to accumulate dirt so fast. Moreover, the wax part seems to peel off when it gets scraped. Imagine how untidy the bottom part of my mouse has become after using it for just a few minutes with a mouse pad. But then again, I value functionality over looks.

microsoft arc mouse

When it comes to ergonomics, it fits my hand really well. The device itself is pretty solid with no creaky parts. It folds neatly as well. The left and right buttons are clicky. The scroller on top works just fine (albeit slow) but I prefer using my MacBook Pro's touchpad for scrolling. It has another clickable button on the left side. I tried it on my browser, and it automatically adds new tabs. Probably, it has more functions than that.

And yes, it's plug and play. Just plug in the USB transceiver and the mouse works in an instant. No software/driver installation needed, which is great! This is good news for Mac users like me. Thank God, Microsoft did not make it too hard for me to use it.

Microsoft's website says that the batteries will last for about 6 months. We'll see about that as I'm a heavy mouse user.

So that's about it. I plan to use this cool little accessory for quite some time so I hope it will last. This mouse does not come cheap as well. It ranges from Php800 to Php2,000 depending on where you buy it.

Note: Microsoft did not pay me for this review. I bought this mouse because it looks cute and yes, it's wireless. For more pictures, check out https://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/p/arc-mouse/ZJA-00001#overview

My Blogspirations

There are many reasons why I started blogging... Okay, to be exact...why I started blogging again. It's because of my blogspirations.

I read blogs on a daily basis but there are just some blogs that I can't resist not taking a look at everyday. It's like my day is not complete if I haven't seen their posts. Also, I get sad when they skip blogging for a day. But yeah, I understand. I know they are busy people.

Let's do this!

I've been a big fan of Chuvaness blog (http://chuvaness.com). I joined most of her promos. I learned a lot about fashion and good food. I got to know Ms. Cecile more even if I haven't met her yet. (I wanna meet her soon.) I know that she likes Yayoi Kusama, Hello Kitty, LV, BlackBerry, Muji, Haagen Dazs, Margarita Fores, Cibo, the 80's, Bonchon, Singapore, Commes Des Garcon, and many more. It's also because of her that I eat at Pepper Lunch often.

blogspirations

But my key takeaway from her blog is that "you should be yourself". Dress according to your preference. Dress to express and not impress. Don't apologize and be sorry for who you are; instead, be proud of it. That's why I consider her one of my life heroes. She's a role model, a fashionista, and a beautiful person with a good heart.

I also read Fashion Pulis (http://www.fashionpulis.com/) a lot. Though not as often as I read Chuvaness, I make sure that I get to answer Michael Sy Lim's blind items, which are very juicy. I must admit that I like chismis and enjoy listening to people gossiping. Haha!

blogspirations

Most of the time I get to answer correctly his BI's but sometimes they are just so hard especially if the personalities involved are Kapuso or from some other dimension. Nevertheless, I enjoy every moment of reading posts about Time Giver, Very Giddy, and the like.

I also plan to post BI and rumors on my blog as well. MicSyLim, you are the best!

Lately, I've been reading posts from Divine Lee's self-titled blog (http://divinemlee.com/) as well. What can I say? She's the ultimate Becky Queen, a champion for LGBT rights, and a very down-to-earth person. I remember that she once said that she doesn't have fans, just friends. Awww!

blogspirations

I personally like looking just at her random posts and her glamshots. I think there's something to her that makes her standout. Maybe, her personality, charisma, or X-factor! I've seen her several times in malls but I haven't met her personally as well. I believe that she really has a kind and pure heart despite what her detractors are saying.

There are other blogs that I visit on a regular basis. These include:

Kalokohan Blog (http://www.kalokohan.com/)

blogspirations

The name says it all. It's about kalokohan. Funny stuff. Silly stuff. I'm sure you'll get hooked.

Hay! Men! Ang blog ng mga tunay na lalake (http://tunaynalalake.blogspot.com/)

blogspirations

One should memorize the manifesto of tunay na lalake unless you're otherwise. Posts are as funny as hell and also some are bordering on X-rated. Don't worry such posts are censored. Haha.

And yes, I've been reading a lot of foreign blogs too that deal with gadgets, Hollywood, and whatnots. I'll blog about them in detail in the days to come.

The blogs I mentioned above are my Blogspirations. You guys can expect to see content on my blog similar to theirs. But I won't copy, of course. After all, they are just my blogspirations. I just hope I made them all proud with my brand new blog.

That's all for now!

Even Birthdays Have A Silver Lining

Here's the thing. I celebrated my 25th birthday last August 18 somewhere in Mandaluyong City. I invited around 30 people and only 20 something came. But what bothered me was that my birthday celebration almost flopped. Almost! No one arrived until before 7 PM. I almost cried while sitting in a corner drinking and eating peanuts thinking that none of them would come. But then again, they came so let's move on.

happy birthday

The very sexy Louie Sabado was the first to come, bringing with him Jack Daniels, which was sent by the ever beautiful Gretchen de Peralta. Oh by the way, Norbie Lagota was already with me. He accompanied me and helped me prepare the food and whatnots. I bought a lot of softdrinks as I don't really enjoy drinking hard drinks. Norbie also gave me a gift from the Body Shop and yes, a delicious looking cake with cute, colorful candles.

happy birthday

happy birthday

Then came Jam Melchor with a companion. Considering he has a very busy schedule, I really appreciate him coming in early.

happy birthday

After 7 PM, more guests arrived. These include Ceetee Punzalan and Roanna Catap. Ceetee brought pancit and chicken while Roanna just brought her jewelries and the news that she already resigned from TV5. (Update: Oh! Roanna just informed me that the food were from her and Ceetee.) Dexter Dela Cruz, accompanied by JP, arrived after the girls. They brought Chef Tony's popcorn. They said that these were to be consumed while watching Miss World 2012, airing that same day (or night).

happy birthday

More and more guests arrived like Rico Pinon, Bong Berania, Mariel Veloso, Bianca Tamayo, Daniel Enriquez, and August Quijano. I'm glad all of them came and some even brought food and other treats. Rico brought Cheetos, Mariel brought a cake which she baked and oh so yummy! The guys love your cake! Dan came all the way from Batangas and brought some puto from Laguna (which I'm sure everybody loved but were already too full to eat them). Bianca brought bottles of Tanduay Ice as my request. August brought with him red wine and reusable wine bottles.

happy birthday

Then Claude Ramos arrived from the Davao and brought food and drinks...like you know boxes of pizza and novelty gifts, which I did like. Thanks so much. =)

happy birthday

happy birthday

So while I was busy entertaining guests, the guys were having a drinking session downstairs, waiting for Miss World 2012 to air while the girls were upstairs watching their favorite football game. Hmmm, interesting...

happy birthday

We ate a lot, talked a lot, and had fun! So much fun!

happy birthday

Finally, the time has come for them to sing my birthday song. We lit up the candles on my two cakes. Everyone surrounded me, holding their digital cameras and camera phones. All I saw were flashes of light and just heard their voices merrily singing the birthday song. I felt like I was a celebrity.

happy birthday

That was the highlight of the night and it was one of those few moments in my life where I felt that I am really special. And I can't thank all my friends enough for celebrating that special moment in my life with me.

happy birthday

Yes there were very late comers such as Rex Sanvictores and Dave Revillame. Rex wore his trademark BB creamed face while Dave flirted with someone (did he not?). Just kidding!

happy birthday

We then watched Miss World 2012 and really enjoyed the part where Miss Malawi shoved off Miss New Zealand. It was hilarious. Most of us did not like the fact that Miss China won considering China was the host country. But then again, what can we do about it? None. And because of that, I renamed August Quijano to Ordos Quijano.

happy birthday

So we just played games and talked about stuff and other people. Haha! Gossips!!! But that's about it. One by one, people left the place until I was the only one in my room. I didn't get scared of course. I'm a big boy already and a year older. Thank God for another year!

happy birthday

Finally, I just want to extend my deepest gratitude to all my friends who came, who went out of their way just to see me and celebrate the night with me. I love you all and see you on my next birthday.

P.S. To those who did not come, better come up with an explanation. Just kidding! I understand.

Til then...

xoxo Nash
