Will the Galaxy S III and iPhone 5 Blend?

We have seen the original iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 4, the iPad, an Olympus camera, and the Wii get crushed by Blendtec's seemingly powerful blender. And because it's time for Tom to get a new smartphone, he has to decide which between the iPhone 5 and the Galaxy S III he should get. Definitely, he will decide based on the sturdiness of the phone. Will he get the fastest-selling smartphone ever, which is the iPhone 5? Will he choose Android's best-selling smartphone, which is the Samsung Galaxy S III? Will he buy both? Or will he choose neither and grab something else?

iPad w/ Retina Display: The iPad (3rd Gen) Killer

Every time Apple is about to launch a new product, rumors are being floated on the web. And even before the product makes an official debut, chances are people have already seen it from online leaks. But if there is one Apple product that was not foreseen by the public, it would be the iPad with Retina Display (4th Gen).

Why? The new iPad (3rd Gen) has just been around for barely 8 months and it has not even celebrated its first birthday yet. But to everyone's surprise, Apple has announced a new iPad with Retina Display, together with the iPad mini, effectively killing and burying its predecessor, the iPad (3rd Gen), six feet under.

Again, why? Was the iPad (3rd Gen) so bad that it had to be discontinued? Was it met by lackluster sales? Has Apple gone crazy? No. No. And No. In fact, the iPad (3rd Gen) was one of Apple's best-selling products. The most plausible reason for this is that the iPad (3rd Gen) does not make use of Apple's new proprietary dock/port, which is the Lightning connector, which debuted with the iPhone 5 and iPod touch (5th Gen). That's why Apple has come up with a old new iPad that makes use of the Lightning connector. Other incremental changes to the new iPad are basically add-ons to entice you more.

So what does the new iPad with Retina Display (4th Gen) look like? Is it really any better than its predecessor? Is it worth the upgrade if you already own the iPad (3rd Gen)? Let's find out.


The 4th Gen iPad shares most of the specifications of its predecessor. It is 9.4 mm thin (thick) and weighs just 1.44 pounds. Its chassis is carved from a single piece of aluminum and like its predecessor, come in 2 colors: black and white. On the front, you will see the 1.2-MP Facetime HD camera. The iconic home button is still situated below the iPad's screen. At the back, the 4th Gen iPad retains its 5-MP snapper (still without a flash) that records 1080p FullHD videos. Below the new iPad, you will see the all-new Lightning port (which is reversible and charges faster) and a loudspeaker. The left side has no buttons at all and the right side contains the volume rocker and the mute/rotation control switch. Overall, nothing has been changed on the design of the 4th Gen iPad, save for the new Lightning port. It is still sleek, solid, classy but definitely breakable.

With a 9.7-inch LED-backlit IPS TFT display with a 2,048 x 1,536 resolution, the iPad with Retina Display (4th Gen) has basically the same display as the iPad 3. With four times the number of pixels in the iPad 2 and a million more than an HDTV, the 4th Gen iPad has a large, crisp, beautiful display.

Let's move on to the 4th Gen iPad's primary camera. It is equipped with a 5-megapixel iSight camera that records 1080p Full HD videos. With an ƒ/2.4 aperture, a hybrid IR filter, and a five-element lens, it captures light efficiently to produce a sharper and brighter overall image. Basically, it uses the same camera module used on its predecessor. As mentioned above, it also has a secondary front-facing camera of HD quality. FaceTime on the 4th Gen iPad works over Wi-Fi or cellular, depending on which model/variant you buy. And yes, you can also use it for taking self-portraits or recording 720p HD video.

Aside from the Lightning connector and bumped-up secondary camera, the only major difference of the iPad with Retina Display from the iPad 3 is its processor. It is equipped with the all-new dual-core A6X chip, which is said to deliver up to twice the CPU and graphics performance of the A5X chip.
It should make the new iPad feel faster and even more responsive. For its GPU, it uses a PowerVR SGX543MP4 module with quad-core graphics. And with a 10-hour battery life, the new iPad packs a lot of power indeed.

The new iPad is also 4G LTE-capable, which will work with most LTE carriers worldwide. If 4G LTE is not available in your area, the new iPad also work with other advanced networks such as HSPA, HSPA+, and DC-HSDPA so you can download content, stream video, and browse the web at amazing speeds. Should you decide to get the Wi-Fi only version of the new iPad, good news! It now has a dual-band (2.4GHz and 5GHz) 802.11n Wi-Fi and support for channel bonding, wherein download speeds can reach up to 150 Mbps.

With over 275,000 apps dedicated to the iPad from the App Store, you'll surely make the most out of the new iPad. Available in 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB variants, with 1 GB RAM, make sure you choose the variant with higher storage as the new iPad has no option for memory expansion, which is the case for all iOS devices. The iPad with Retina Display will run on iOS 6 out-of-the-box, which features Siri, a new Clock app, new Maps and navigation app, better iBooks app, better iCloud integration, Facebook and Twitter integration, better Game Center, App Store, AirPlay, AirPrint, and whatnot! The new iPad also has Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, Internet hotspot and tethering features, accelerometer, gyroscope, compass, GPS (for the cellular version), and so on. Like other iOS devices, it lacks a native YouTube app and the Google Maps app.

Like its predecessor, the iPad with Retina Display also has a Smart Cover and a Smart Case, which can be bought separately. It's the cover that wakes up, stands up, and brightens up the iPad. The Smart Cover snaps perfectly into place to protect the iPad's screen without adding bulk. The Smart Case covers the iPad (both front and back) yet still retains the thin, light design of iPad. Like the Smart Cover, it folds easily into a stand for reading, typing, and watching video. Both the Smart Cover and the Smart Case are available in 10 different colors, including a (PRODUCT) Red color exclusive to the Online Store.

Already available for pre-order, the iPad with Retina Display will start shipping on November 2, 2012. LTE variants will be available in late November 2012.

So nobody guessed that Apple would kill the iPad 3 in as short as 8 months, which is unprecedented. But then again, it's Apple. While it's not worth it to upgrade to the 4th Gen iPad if you already own an iPad 3, those who own an older generation iPad would surely feel the difference when they purchase Apple's flagship tablet. Samsung Galaxy S III On Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean!

Three weeks since Android 4.1 Jelly Bean first started seeding on Samsung Galaxy S III devices in Europe, the much anticipated update has finally arrived in the Philippines. And I'll waste no time to give you a blow-by-blow review of Android's latest for Samsung's greatest.

According to GSMArena.com, which happens to be my favorite tech blog and review site, the new features of the Samsung Galaxy S III running on Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean are the following:

• Project Butter - smoother UI animations with higher frame rate
• Google Now
• Blocking mode
• Offline voice typing support
• Better notification area with expandable notifications
• Two different homescreen modes
• Pop-up play window is now resizable
• Smoother and faster web browser
• New in-call features - boost loudness and turn on/off noise cancellation
• Video recording pause/resume functionality
• Enhanced brightness control
• Easier widgets management
• Reorganized Settings menu

But I'll add some more features, which were not mentioned above. These include:

• Ability to customize Messaging app with background photos
• New app folder layout
• More free RAM storage
• Improved Music Player interface (including the widget)
• New apps such as Voice Search and Help
• Refreshed icons and widgets
• Bigger keyboard for easier typing
• Retained support for Adobe Flash Player

We all know that Samsung's flagship smartphone already has one of the smoothest UI animations among Android devices but with Project Butter under Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, it has just gotten better. No lags. Higher frame rate. Snappier. It just feels so right, perfect, and definitely high-end.

Some of the changes that I did like include Google Now. This is Android's answer to iOS's Siri. This is also a better version of Samsung's own S-Voice. With Google Now, you can either type or talk to it and the app will give you a reply. However, if there's no immediate answer to your question, Google Now will simply initiate a Google web search. Google Now is activated with a press-and-hold of the menu button.

Another new feature that comes in handy is the Easy Mode, which brings a few new widgets with larger buttons, as well as your favorite contacts, favorite apps and a keypad on your home screen. This should allow you to use your Galaxy S III with everything on your home screen and avoid dealing with complicated menus.

Then we also have the Blocking Mode, which is similar to iOS's Do Not Disturb feature. If turned on, the Blocking Mode will mute incoming calls, sound and LED notifications, as well as alarms. Like DND, it also has an exception list where you can add some contacts that won't be affected by its restrictions.

As mentioned earlier, there are many other changes to the smartphone and it's always exciting to discover them yourself. Also, with the Jelly Bean update, the Galaxy S III is said to have a longer web browsing time, same talk time duration, and a little shorter video playback time. While most of the updates/upgrades Samsung did for the Galaxy S III were incremental, they definitely contribute a lot to overall user experience. It's like you're using a new smartphone again. Everything is just so fast, vivid, and responsive. That my friend is the new and improved Samsung Galaxy S III.

Christina Aguilera Overload...She's Everywhere

Since The Voice aired, Christina Aguilera has been very busy. And that's an understatement. She's literally everywhere...promoting her new album, doing charity work, promoting her new fragrance, helping hurricane victims, throwing parties, launching songs and music videos, and attending almost every event imaginable.

Here's one of her latest TV guestings with Jimmy Fallon on his show Late Night With Jimmy Fallon on NBC. In Jimmy's office before the show, Christina Aguilera, Jimmy, and The Roots grabbed some office supplies and used them as instruments to perform Christina's "Your Body." It's just awesome.

Q: What made you decide to come up with a parody account?

Annabelle: Well, nagsasawa na kasi ako sa Facebook then I thought that I will try Twitter since it is popular nowadays. Nung una, gagawa sana ako ng personal acoount pero naisip ko, wala naman akong gaanong friends na gumagamit ng Twitter so what's the use of making one. Then, naisip ko na gumawa ng parody account para naman kahit papaano eh may makapansin sa tweets ko diba. Pero kilala ko na si na Krizzy_KalerQUI at superstarmarian nung una pa man dahil nababalitaan ko na nakakatuwa ang mga tweets nila. Nung una di ko alam kung sinong celebrity ang gagayahin ko. Syempre dapat ung sikat na artista para agaw atensyon talaga pero ewan ko ba bat si Annabelle ang napili ko. ssguro dahil nung mga panahon na yun eh siya palagi ang nasa balita. Hahahaha. Kaya pinanindigan ko na ang pagiging Annabelle. Nilagyan ko nalang ng 69 para halatang parody. hehehe. Sino ba namang celebrity ang maglalagay ng numerong yan sa username nila di ba? Ako lang. Hahaha!

Q: What is your edge over other parody accounts? 

Annabelle: Edge? My edge is 52 years of edge. Charaught. Hahaha uhm sa tingin ko, ung pagiging friendly ko? Haha kasi lahat ng nagttweets sa akin, kinakaibigan ko talaga and i tweet them mentioning their names or some terms of endearment like babe, baby, honey, sweetie, sis, mars, dung, day, etc etc. hehe. Sa katunayan nga nagttweet ako minsan na kung ano talaga ang ginagawa ko, nararamdaman ko bilang ako at hindi bilang si Annabelle.

Q: Is it hard to maintain a parody account?

Annabelle: Hindi, kasi i have unlimited Internet access. Salamat sa Globe at madali ko lang nahack ang Unlimited internet data plan nila for a month. Tapos pag malapit na matapos ung plan, hahack ko ulit. Ganun lang. hahaha. Uhm, oras oras nga naka-online ako sa Twitter. Depende nalang kung busy talaga ako, or may lakad, or nasa mall, or nakikipag-date. Hahaha madalas nga naiinip ako dahil ang bagal ng usad ng timelime ko pag weekdays dahil siguro nasa work at school ang karamihan sa aking mga twitter friends (following and followers). Kaya kung ano ano nalang tinitweet ko para lang mapansin. Hahaha.

Q: How do you separate your actual self from your alter ego?

Annabelle: Pag OFFLINE, ako ay ako. Hindi ako si Annabelle. Pero kapag napag uusapan nila si Annabelle, either in public, office, bank, mall, kainan, and even sa bahay, nagpapanting ang tenga ko na para bang gusto kong malaman ang comments nila about kay Annabelle. At madalas, napapangiti nalang ako sa mga comments nila.

Kapag ONLINE naman, ako na si Annabelle. Lahat ng pwedeng i-comment sa mga issues, trending topics, sasabihin ko. mapa negative comment man yan or positive. Pero madalas talaga negative. Pero hahaluan ko ng konting katatawanan para naman mag-enjoy ang mga nagbabasa. Madalas naisasama ko rin sa tweets ko kung sino talaga ako. Dahil tinitweet nila ako bilang ako at hindi si Annabelle. Magulo ba? Hehehe.

Q: What word best describes you as a "parody account"?

Annabelle: Nakalagay nga sa bio ko na "monster mom". Hehe. wWlang kinakatakutan sa mga pagtweets at comment. Actually twice na akong nasuspend sa Twitter pero kita niyo naman, buhay pa rin ako. Hahaha. Nasususpend ako pag binabash ko ang isang celebrity ng tuloy tuloy. I mean sa isang araw, siya lang ang binabash ko. Hahaha. Nung unang suspension ko, si Mond ang tinira ko. Yes, ang pinakamamahal kong anak na bakla na si Mond na kamakailan lang ay tinweet siya using the term "Girl" ni Nicole Andersson. Yung pangalawa naman eh si Charice Fermin Pempengco na every X Factor eh binabash ko. Buti nalang minsan lang ako nasuspend dahil sa kanya. Hahaha.


HER PERSONAL VIEWS AND OPINIONS...

Q: Are you a Kapuso, a Kapamilya, or a Kapatid?

Annabelle: Pag umaga, kapuso (dahil pinapanood ko ang inu yasha na talaga namang gustong gusto ko. Pati mga ibang anime nila tulad ng ghost fighter, flame of recca, bleach etc etc).

Pag tanghali, kapuso/kapamilya (dahil pinapanood ko be careful with my heart, showtime, asap, party pilipinas at syempre, eat bulaga)

Pag gabi , kapatid (kasi pinapanood ko ang WilTime Bigtime, yes. Yun nga, tawagin niyo nakong baduy pero yun talaga, nageenjoy kasi ako sa Kantanong dahil kwento yun ng buhay ng ating mga kababayan, may mga nakakatawa at nakakatouch na kwento na talaga namang nagpapaiyak sa kin. Dagdag ko lang na nagtext ako sa promo nila na house and lot. Hahaha tinry ko lang. Malay niyo ako pala natawagtan ni Wil diba? Hehe)

Annabelle: TV show? Sa ngayon wala eh. kasi pag favorite, talagang papanoorin mo ano man ang mangyari. Dati meron...yung mulawin, darna (angel locsin), majika, imortal, encantadia, etheria, marimar, stairway to heaven (dingdong and rhian). pero ngayon, titignan ko kung magugustuhan ko ang temptation of wife (pinoy).

Q: Given a chance to meet a certain celebrity, who would it be?

Annabelle: Si Angel Locsin! Since mulawin days kasi, nagustuhan ko na siya.

Q: If you could date/marry someone from Philippine showbiz, who would it be? Why?

Annabelle: Pakasalan talaga? Oh my, ang dami kong crush na artista. As in madami, hahahahaha. Kung date, silang lahat hahaha..pero kung sa kasalan eh uhm?? Wala eh...hehehe.

Q: What is your view on the Cyber Crime Prevention Act?

Annabelle: Aala namang akong paki jan sa issue dahil hindi naman ako maapektuhan ng batas na yan, unang una, di naman nila ako kilala sa totoong buhay kaya paano nila ako madedemanda diba? Pangalawa, hindi naman nila seseryosohin ang iba kung tweets, although ung iba eh affected tulad ng mga fantards ng mga binabash kong celebrities. Tsaka, kung ilalantad nila ang account ko sa media, abay, ok sa akin yun kasi sisikat ako. Hahahaha.

Q: What is your view on the RH Bill?

Annabelle: Pro-RH bill ako. Yun na. Kung ano ang point of view ni Pia Cayetano, yun na yung sa akin. Keri? Hehehe.

Q: Any message to your followers/fans?

Annabelle: Oh my gosh, I'm so overwhelmed sa inyong lahat. Araw-araw kong tinitweet na mahal na mahal ko kayo. Kayo ang dahilan kung bakit nagttweet pa ako kaya sana wag kayong magsawa sa pagbabasa ng mga tweets ko. Ok?

Q: What is your message to your bashers/haters?

Annabelle: Oh well, salamat sa pagbasa ng mga tweets ko. At least may impact sa inyo diba? Hahaha. Don't worry, di ako nagbblock, kasi feel na feel ko kayo. Kasi dahil sa inyo, feeling ko, sikat ako. Hahahaha. Napasuspend niyo na nga ako twice eh. Hahahaha.

Q: Should parody accounts continue to exist? Should they be banned?

Annabelle: To exist, yes. To be banned, no. Kasi naman, aminin niyo, kami ang nagbibigay kulay sa timeline niyo. Ang mga nakakatawang tweets namin na talaga namang natatawa kayo. Hahaha. Diba? Tsaka sa dami ng problema ng mga tao ngayon, kelangan din nilang tumawa paminsan minsan.

Q: If you could ban a certain parody account on Twitter, who would it be? Why?

Annabelle: Hmm? Wala naman. Kasi mahal ko silang lahat. Sila ang mga sis and mars ko. Kapit bisig, walang laglagan. Purely fun lang. Hahaha.

Q: Will you reveal your true identity before the world ends?

Annabelle: Oo naman. Magugunaw na mundo eh, edi sabihin na. Tutal, madedeads naman tayong lahat. Hahaha.

Q: Will Twitter be the same without you?

Annabelle: Of course not! madaming makakmiss sa akin. As in madaming madami…sina sis lovi, gretch, bungalngal, nora, barubal, lokring, mga anak kong sina ruffa at mond, etc etc at ang mga friends kong hindi #teamPArody at syempre ikaw (Nash). At mamimiss ko rin kayo. Baka nga iiyak ako ng mga 1week. Tapos depressed ng mga 3 weeks at mamimiss ko kayo everyday.

Q: Do you plan to open an account on Facebook or Google+ in the future?

Annabelle: Uhmm oo. Pag medyo tumama na sa 10,000 ang mga followers ko. Hahaha.

Q: How do you want Twitterverse to remember you?

Annabelle: Uhm, isang nakakatuwang kaibigan, mapagkakatiwalaan, madaling pakisamahan, madaling mahalin, sweet, masiyahin, kachismisan. Huhuhuhuhu di ko kayang mawala sa Twitter. Minahal ko na kayong lahat at patuloy ko po rin mamahalin hanggat ako'y nabubuhay.

Nakakuha akez ng inspiration dahil natawa akez sa mga tweets nila (Sharon and The Beauty Queens) kay Cathy whatever.

I was Khloe Karambola (Khloe Kardashian) in the 1st place pero puhrang waley akez maisip na joke o trip tungkol kay Khloe at sa Hollywood. Next, I was Ruffa Chuvenezz pero in the past few dayzz, puhrang waley akelz makuhang update tungkol kay Ruffa kaya hitey, in the end, si Andi Eigenwomann na akelz. but whatever happened, look at me, MAGANDA FARIN AKEZ!

Q: What is your edge over other parody accounts? 

Andi: EDGE? Well, 18 years old akez. #KAHLOHKAH hahahahahaha. Well, I don’t see them as rivals but rather mga ka-Mars din, especially @ruffaguchenez/@ruffagucherez, @nadzmontenegro, @Queen_Barubal, @jobertsucaldito, @JuanaXChange, and of course @DMajaDERAtoo.

Q: Is it hard to maintain a parody account?

Andi: Yes kasi nalilito akez pag parehong naka-open ang personal at parody account ko. Kelangan todo-ingat. Vuhkuh kasi mabaligtad ang dalawang characters ko. You know, as in AGUA (personal) akez sa parody account ko or BENDITA (parody) akez sa personal account ko.

Tsaka marami rin akez ginagawa ditey sa home sweet home ko noh. You know naman, alaga-alaga my baby Ellie, kamot-kamot my kefyas to the pictures of Zayn and Chris Evans #KAHLOHKAH, S&M (hahahahahaha) at iba pa.

Q: How do you separate your actual self from your alter ego?

Andi: Puhrang waley pinagkaiba ang true-self at ang alter ego ko. Pareho kasi kaming maganda. CHOS! Hahahahahaha. Well, ang pinagkaiba lang siguro eh mas maayos at mas matino ang true-self ko (since may mga hot and cute akong followers dun at kelangan kong maging maayos at vuhkuh ma-turned off sila sakin. #ANSAVEH) habang taklesa, barubal, wild, horny, at super-maingay ang alter-ego ko (wow. puhrang ganun lang akez datey). In short, Agua akez sa personal account ko habang Bendita/Veronica/Sam naman akez sa parody account ko.

Anyway, just like what I said, dapat todo-ingat. Vuhukh mabaligtad ang characters ko.

Q: What is your view on the Cyber Crime Prevention Act?

Andi: Well, I thought it was OK in the first place dahil kinicriminalize ang cyberbullying, hacking, spamming, pornography, etc. na, much like RH Bill, wala akez fuckez dyan before pero nung umabot na sa puntong online libel, HAY NAKEZ! NAG-INCREDIBLE HULK NA AKEZ NUN! GRAVEH TALAGURLS! THAT IS SO CYBER-OA! The CYBERworld is my tamabayan. Kung di lang dahil sa CYBERworld na itey, wala akez libangan pag nabobored akez lalo na pag hapontastic, wala akez nakikilalang mga random people in and out of the country, hindi kez nakilala ang mga ka-Mars ko, at hindi ko rin makausap, maokray randomly ang mga celebs.
