Alcatel OneTouch Flash Plus: Best Bang Per Buck

Alcatel is launching the OneTouch Flash Plus phablet in Lazada Philippines this May 15 (Friday) at 12:00 PM through a flash sale. This is similar to what Lazada did with the Xiaomi Redmi 2 and the Huawei Honor 4C. The most irresistible aspect about this upcoming sale is the price at which Lazada sells the Alcatel phablet. It's only PhP6,490, which is cheaper than the Xiaomi Redmi Note, Meizu M1 Note, and the Huawei Honor 4X.

The Alcatel OneTouch Flash Plus offers the best bang per buck of any phablet available in the market today. It packs a 5.5-inch IPS LCD of 720p HD resolution (268 ppi). The screen employs Japan OGS full lamination and is protected by Dragontrail Glass. Ticking inside it is a 64-bit MediaTek MT6752M 1.5GHz octa-core processor with Mali T760 MP2 GPU, 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage. The latter is expandable up to 64GB more through its microSD card slot. With these specs, the Alcatel phablet beats the M1 Note with expandable storage while the latter beats the former with its Full HD display.

Imaging-wise, there is a Sony-made 13-MP primary camera with f/2.2 aperture and a single LED flash. There is also an 8-MP front-facing camera to take care of selfies and video calls. Connectivity-wise, there is Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Miracast support, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS with aGPS support, USB OTG support, FM radio, and dual-SIM, dual-LTE support. The Alcatel OneTouch Flash Plus one-ups the Meizu M1 Note with its 8-MP front-facing camera and dual-LTE support.

Everything is powered by a large 3,500 Li-Ion battery. The phablet boots Android 4.4 KitKat with Alcatel's proprietary UI on top. It will be updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop in the months to come. The phablet measures 152.3 mm x 76.4 mm x 8 mm and weighs 147 grams, which is not bad considering its specs and price tag. It will be available in Slate and Gold color variants although it will only be the former that will go on sale this May 15. All in all, the Alcatel OneTouch Flash Plus is a great device as nothing else comes close to its specs given its price tag. The Meizu M1 Note is PhP2,000 more expensive than Alcatel's phablet.
