Microsoft Lumia 950, 950 XL and 550 Unveiled
The Lumia 950 is one of the three new Windows 10-powered smartphones unveiled by Microsoft, along with the phablet Lumia 950 XL and the entry-level Lumia 550. It packs a 5.2-inch AMOLED display of Quad HD resolution. That translates to a pixel density of 564 ppi. It is powered by a 64-bit hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset with 3GB RAM and 32GB of expandable internal storage. It also sports a powerful 20-MP primary camera, which uses ZEISS lens along with a triple LED flash and 5th gen optical image stabilization (OIS). It is also capable of recording videos in 4K resolution. Its front camera maxes out at 5-MP. Its connectivity suite includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, dual-band antenna, LTE-A, and USB Type-C. A 3,000 mAh battery will keep its lights on and supports both wireless and fast charging.Perhaps the only missing feature on the Lumia 950 is a fingerprint scanner, which Microsoft replaces with Windows Hello (front-facing infra-red scanners that securely unlock your phone). On the software side, Microsoft has introduced Continuum, which allows the user to connect the phone to a monitor and have it work as a desktop computer, running desktop apps. This is with the help of a dedicated dock where the user must plug the phone. With all these features, the new Microsoft Lumia 950 can be purchased for $550 this November 2015, which is not too expensive either.
