Movie Review: My Little Bossings

My Little Bossings is a comedy film that stars Vic Sotto, Kris Aquino, Ryzza Mae Dizon, and James "Bimby" Aquino-Yap. Directed by Marlon Rivera, the film is also an official entry to the 2013 Metro Manila Film Festival. The film also marks Bimby Yap-Aquino's first big screen debut. The film bagged major awards at the recently concluded MMFF Awards Night, including Best Supporting Actress for Aiza Seguerra and 3rd Best Picture. It also currently tops the box office results of the said festival.

The story goes like this: Torky (Vic Sotto) is a bookkeeper working for Baba (Kris Aquino), a millionaire cash management specialist. Because of some conflict in her business that puts her life in danger, Baba entrusts the safety of her son Justin (Bimby Aquino-Yap) to Torky who takes him home to meet his daughter Ice (Aiza Seguerra) and grand daughter Ching (Ryzza Mae Dizon). Given that Justin is not particularly fond of Torky, how all four of them would get along under one roof becomes the focus of the story.

My Little Bossings is of comedy genre, which runs for almost 2 hours. It is rated GP (general patronage) in the Philippines. Despite the film's box office success, in terms of comedy, Ryzza Mae was the film's saving grace. She has this unique quality that would make the audience laugh easily by just being herself. Meanwhile, I find the drama scenes between Vic and Aiza awkward and Kris and Bimby's acting skills (or the lack thereof) so off. But I must say that Bimby is good-looking. Oh, Jaclyn Jose was funny too. Watch out for her. If there is one thing I really hated about the movie, these are the blatant product endorsements that cost the film credibility.

RATING: 3.5 out of 5 STARS
