The LG G Flex 2 has just been made official. It is successor to the innovative LG G Flex, which features a curved display - something unique back then for a smartphone/phablet. The G Flex 2 is the first mainstream smartphone to feature the newly launched 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset. It has an octa-core CPU clocked at 2GHz with 2GB DDR4 RAM. There is also an option of a 16GB or 32GB of expandable internal storage.

The self-healing back panel of the original G Flex is also present in the G Flex 2 but this time around, it takes just 10 seconds at room temperature for the scratch to heal itself instead of the normal 3 minutes. The G Flex 2 features a 5.5-inch 1080p P-OLED display, which is more compact and has a higher resolution than in the previous model. In terms of imaging, the G Flex 2 is
outfitted with a 13-MP OIS rear camera with laser auto-focus a la LG G3. The front camera maxes out at
just 2.1-MP. Connectivity features include support for 4G / LTE / HSPA+ 21/42 Mbps, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth
Smart Ready (Apt-X) 4.1, NFC, SlimPort, A-GPS / Glonass, and USB 2.0. It has a 3,000mAh battery unit with fast charge support (charges to 50% in 40
minutes). This curved LG phablet measures 149.1 mm x 75.3 mm x 9.4 mm.

The G Flex 2 will run Android 5.0 Lollipop out-of-the-box with LG's proprietary UI on top. It will also come with three new gesture controls, such as Gesture Shot for selfie-taking, Gesture
View for checking the last photo immediately after
taking it, and Glance View, which is an ambient notifications
feature. The phablet will be available in South Korea by the end of January 2015 and will launch globally the month after. It will come in Platinum Silver and Flamenco Red color variants. Any takers?
