Movie Review: Star Trek Into Darkness

Star Trek Into Darkness builds on the plot of Star Trek, which was shown in 2009. Both films star Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, and Zoe Saldana. After the crew of the Enterprise finds an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction.

The story goes like this: When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis. With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.

Like its prequel, Star Trek Into Darkness is of sci-fi/action/adventure genre. I'm not really into this kind of movie but hey, it was quite entertaining. The futuristic feel and look of London and the amazing effects used made the movie quite convincing and realistic. It's rated PG-13, so children below 13 years old can still watch it if accompanied by adults. The film is available in IMAX, Digital 3D, and 2D. Be sure to catch Alice Eve, whose character is named Carol in the middle of the film. I can still imagine her being Erin, the sexy nanny of Charlotte's kids in Sex and the City 2.

RATING: 4 out of 5 STARS
