Sony Launches Xperia X Line of Smartphones

Sony surprised everyone at this year's MWC with the unveiling of three Xperia new smartphones. In fact, Sony has launched the new line of Xperia X phones, namely the Xperia X Performance, Xperia X, and the Xperia XA. Among the three, the Sony Xperia X Performance is the most powerful and is made of premium metal. It packs a 5-inch Triluminos display of 1080p Full HD resolution. It is powered by the 64-bit quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset with 3GB RAM and 32GB of expandable internal storage. It is also equipped with goodies like a side fingerprint scanner, stereo speakers, high-res audio support with a dedicated DAC, 2,700 mAh battery with two-day battery life and Qnovo's Adaptive Charging technology, and dust and water resistance (IP68 certified).

In the camera department, the Xperia X Performance comes with a 23-MP primary camera with Predictive Hybrid Auto-focus (focuses in 0.1s), 5x Clear Image Zoom, ISO 12800 sensitivity, and an LED flash. It also has a 13-MP secondary camera with enhanced low-light sensitivity. Its connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and LTE.

Up next is the Xperia X, which has a lot in common with the flagship Xperia X Performance. It, too, comes with a 5-inch display of 1080p Full HD resolution, complete with Sony's Triluminos diplay and X-Reality image enhancement technologies. It is powered by a 64-bit hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 chipset with 3GB RAM and 32GB/64GB of expandable internal storage. The Sony Xperia X also has the same camera and connectivity setup as the Xperia X Performance. It, however, lacks the latter's IP68 certification but has a dual-SIM variant. Its battery is rated at 2,620 mAh.

Lastly, we have the Sony Xperia XA, which has a 5-inch display of 720p HD resolution. Under its hood is a MediaTek MT6755 chipset with 2GB RAM and 16GB of expandable internal storage. It has a 13-MP Exmor RS primary camera with LED flash and an 8-MP front camera. A 2,300 mAh battery will keep its lights on. Sadly, it does not have water or dust resistance, a fingerprint scanner nor stereo speakers. All three Xperia X smartphones run Android 6.0 Marshmallow with the latest Xperia UX on top. They will all be available in June 2016 and will come in colors such as White, Graphite Black, Lime Gold, and Rose Gold. Pricing has not been made public yet. Any takers?
