Tizen-Based Samsung Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo Unveiled

The Samsung Gear smartwatch lineup has gotten some major changes. Physically, they are now thinner and lighter than ever before. And in a rather unexpected move, the new Gear 2 smartwatches will run on the Tizen OS. The Gear 2 will come with 1.63-inch Super AMOLED display (320 x 320 resolution), a 2-MP HD camera, and a dual-core processor clocked up to 1GHz. It will also pack a variety of sensors including a heart rate monitor and an Infrared port. Unfortunately, battery pack has been downgraded. Hopefully, the Tizen OS has better battery management than Android.

The Gear 2 Neo, on the other hand, is very much the same as the Gear 2 in terms of specs, minus the 2-MP HD camera. It is also lighter at 55g. Both smartwatches will feature IP67 dust and water resistance certification and will be available in April 2014. There is no official information on pricing yet.
