The Sony Xperia ZR Waterproof Smartphone

Sony has announced another waterproof smartphone: the Xperia ZR. It includes many of the Xperia Z's features in a smaller, more compact design.

Aside from being waterproof, the Sony Xperia ZR is also dust-resistant. You can also actually use it under water, particularly for taking 13-MP pictures and Full HD videos with the camera and its dedicated shutter key.


The Xperia ZR has a 4.55-inch, 1,280 x 720 resolution LCD. Sony is using its BRAVIA Engine 2, along with an OptiContrast panel, which improves image quality and makes the display assembly thinner. It is powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon APQ8064 with 2GB RAM, 8GB internal memory with microSD card slot and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The Sony Xperia ZR is expected to go on sale worldwide in Q2 of 2013.
