Movie Review: Riddick

Left for dead on a sun-scorched planet, Riddick (Vin Diesel) finds himself up against an alien race of predators. Activating an emergency beacon alerts two ships: one carrying a new breed of mercenary, the other captained by a man from Riddick's past.

The story goes like this: Betrayed by his own kind and left for dead on a desolate planet, Riddick fights for survival against alien predators and becomes more powerful and dangerous than ever before. Soon bounty hunters from throughout the galaxy descend on Riddick only to find themselves pawns in his greater scheme for revenge. With his enemies right where he wants them, Riddick unleashes a vicious attack of vengeance before returning to his home planet of Furya to save it from destruction.

Riddick is of action, thriller, sci-fi genre, which runs for approximately 119 minutes. It's rated R in most countries for strong violence, language, and some sexual content/nudity. I think Vin Diesel was really a great choice for this film, mainly because he looked so strong and formidable. As for the storyline, the scenes were kinda dragging considering there's really not much going on in the plot.  I think that the aliens were just there to showcase some amazing computer-generated graphics and special effects. But really, there's no need for them for the story to progress. There's not even a single memorable moment in the film, in my opinion. Maybe this is also the reason why the film has not been a commercial success. See it for yourself and tell me what you think of it.

RATING: 3 out of 5 STARS

Better than the other movies, but not by much. Still, it's worth the trip if you want something stupid and silly, but fun. Nice review Nash.

Thank you, Dan! =)
