Microsoft Unveils Lumia 640 & 640 XL

Microsoft introduced two new Lumia handsets at MWC 2015. These are the Lumia 640 and the Lumia 640 XL. The first of the two features a 5-inch ClearBlack IPS LCD of 720p HD resolution, protected by Gorilla Glass 3. It packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset with 1GB RAM. Imaging-wise, it is equipped with an 8-MP primary camera with a 1/4" sensor, f/2.2 lens, a dynamic LED flash and auto-HDR. Moreover, its 0.9-MP front camera has a wide-angle lens. Connectivity-wise, it comes in single SIM and dual-SIM variants in addition to 3G and 4G LTE versions. It will run Windows Phone 8.1 out of the box and is upgrade-able to Windows 10. It measures 141.3 mm x 72.2 mm x 8.8 mm and weighs 145 grams. It has a 2,500 mAh battery to keep its light on. It will come in a range of vivid colors: cyan, orange, black, and white, and will be available April 2015 starting at $155 for the 3G model and $177 for the 4G model.

As its name implies, the Lumia 640 XL is the bigger of the two, which is in fact a phablet because of its 5.7-inch display. It shares many similarities with the Lumia 640 and only differs in the camera and battery departments. The Lumia 640 XL packs a 13-MP primary camera and a beefier 3,000 mAh battery. It will go on sale April 2015 and will retail for $210 for the 3G model and $245 for the 4G model.
