Oppo R9 & R9 Plus Announced in China

The Oppo R9 and R9 Plus had just been unveiled in China. Both smartphones look eerily similar to the iPhone 6/6s lineup in terms of design but with very thin bezels. The Oppo R9 is the smaller of the two but is actually already a phablet in screen size and dimensions. It comes with a 5.5-inch AMOLED display of 1080p Full HD resolution. Under the hood is an octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 with 4GB RAM and 64GB of expandable internal storage. The microSD card slot also doubles as a second SIM slot. In the camera department, the R9 packs a 13-MP primary shooter with an f/2.2 aperture and 5-element lens while its front camera has a larger 16-MP sensor with an f/2.0 aperture.

Meanwhile, the Oppo R9 Plus has a bigger 6-inch AMOLED display of 1080p Full HD resolution. Ticking inside is an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 chipset with 4GB RAM and 64GB/128GB of expandable internal storage. The microSD card slot is a hybrid type as well. In the camera department, the R9 Plus packs a 16-MP snapper in front and another 16-MP snapper at the back. It is also capable of shooting 4K videos.

Common between the two Oppo phablets is the fingerprint scanner, which is embedded in the home button. Both are also capable of VOOC Flash Charge. Their connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, dual-SIM support, and LTE. Unfortunately, both handsets will run on Android 5.1 Lollipop. The Oppo R9 will retail for $430 while the R9 Plus costs a hefty $510. Both will hit the Chinese shelves on April 12, 2016. Interested?
