LG Launches MediaTek-Powered K8 & K5

LG has been outing more smartphones under the K series. Joining the LG K10 and K7 are the K8 and K5. The metallic LG K8 is the more capable device of the two as it comes with a 5-inch in-cell display of 720p HD resolution, which is protected by a 2.5D Arc Glass. Ticking inside is a quad-core MediaTek MT6735 chipset with 1.5GB/1GB RAM and 8GB/32GB of expandable internal storage. It has an 8-MP primary camera with LED flash and a 5-MP front-facing snapper. Its connectivity options include LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and NFC. It runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box and is powered by a rather small 2,125 mAh battery. Like most LG smartphones of 2015, the K8 has its power and volume controls at the back.

Meanwhile, the LG K5 also comes with a 5-inch display but of a rather low 480 x 854 resolution. It has the same CPU as the K8 but only has 1GB RAM and 8GB of expandable internal storage. Its primary and secondary camera have also been downgraded to 5-MP and 2-MP, respectively. It has the same connectivity options as the K8 sans NFC. The K5 has an even smaller 1,900 mAh battery and ships with the dated Android 5.1 Lollipop. Both smartphones will be sold in CIS and Latin America. The LG K8 will also be available in Asia, Africa, and Middle East while the LG K5 will be sold in Europe and Mexico.
