Movie Review: Epic (2013)

From the creators of Ice Age and Rio, Blue Sky Studios brings another epic (literally!) animated film for the entire family to enjoy. Based on the book by William Joyce "The Leaf Men and The Brave Good Bugs" and with Hollywood's biggest stars doing the voice over, this movie is bound to be a hit. Topbilled by Amanda Seyfried, Josh Hutcherson, Colin Farrell, Beyonce, Jason Sudeikis, Christoph Waltz, and Pitbull, Epic is one of those movies that will let you discover a world beyond imagination.

epic

The story goes like this: A teenager finds herself transported to a deep forest setting where a battle between the forces of good and the forces of evil is taking place. She bands together with a rag-tag group characters in order to save their world -- and ours.

There's a lot to love about this animated film. First, the casting is perfect. The artists behind the voices were able to portray the characters quite convincingly. Second, the emphasis on caring for nature. It's all about taking care of Mother Earth and not allowing others to destroy it. Third, it's all about interconnection. No man is an island. If everyone works together, any problem will be solved and any goal can be achieved. Rated PG in most countries, anyone can watch, even kids as long as they're accompanied by adults. It is an adventure, fantasy, animated, family movie for everyone to see. By the way, I must say that Ozzie, the pug, is so cute!

RATING: 4.5 out of 5 STARS
