Samsung Launches Galaxy Tab 3 Kids

For the longest time, tablet manufacturers have been trying to come up with child-friendly tablets but none of which has become mainstream. Now, Samsung is giving it a try with the Galaxy Tab 3 Kids. It it essentially the same as the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 but with a yellow hue, bright orange bumper, unique accessories, and custom UI.

The Galaxy Tab 3 Kids sports a 1,024 x 600 pixel display, powered by a 1.2Ghz dual-core processor, complete with 8GB of internal storage plus a microSD slot and 1GB RAM. Like the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0, it also packs a 3-MP primary camera and a 1.3-MP front camera. The rugged rim of this device is made up of two different interchangeable pieces of rubbery plastic. One simply covers the edges of the tablet, the other works with a handle so the child can carry the tablet around like a sack. Some of its unique accessories include the Kids Case and the C Pen.

As expected, the tablet will be pre-loaded with educational, gaming, and entertainment applications. There will be a selection of child-friendly e-books pre-loaded as well. There is also a dedicated Application Manager that will be available to parents for them to pick and choose what’s available to the child at any time. This whole process is password protected so the parent can rest safe knowing the child won't be accessing anything prohibited when they’re using the tablet on their own. This kid-friendly tablet will roll out to Korea first in September and subsequently across China, Europe, Africa, Latin America, Southeast Asia, and US. Pricing is yet to be determined.
