The Budget-Friendly WP8-Powered Huawei Ascend W2

Huawei just announced the successor of the Ascend W1, the WP8-powered Ascend W2. It is one of those few non-Lumia WP8 devices out there. With the budget-conscious consumers in mind, the Ascend W2 will go head to head with the entry-level Nokia Lumia 520.

The Huawei Ascend W2 has a 4.3" IPS LCD screen with WVGA resolution and a pixel density of 217 ppi. It features super sensitive touch technology, so the touch screen works even if you're wearing gloves. The smartphone measures 134 mm x 67 mm x 9.9 mm, which is already as big as the 5-inch flagship smartphones out there. It is also heavy with a weight of 160g.

The budget Huawei smartphone is powered by a Snapdragon MSM8230 chipset with a dual-core Krait CPU running at 1.4GHz, Adreno 305 GPU and 512MB RAM. It has only 8GB of built-in storage and no expansion slot. There's a 5-MP primary camera on-board that can shoot 720p HD videos. On the connectivity side, there's 3G, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 and microUSB 2.0. The battery has 1,700mAh capacity. The Ascend W2 will come in several color options from standard Black to Blue, Red and Yellow. Already available in China, Russia, and the Netherlands, it will expand to more markets later on.
