Nokia Launches Z Launcher for Android

Nokia has just released pre-beta version of the Z Launcher. Interestingly enough, the Z Launcher is made for high-end Android smartphones, and not Windows Phone devices, which comprise most of Nokia's portfolio after being bought by Microsoft. While Nokia has technically released Android smartphones like Nokia X, X+, and XL, the Finnish company has yet to release an Android flagship to compete with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S5, HTC One M8, LG G3, and Sony Xperia Z2.

Perhaps the release of the Z Launcher for Android is already a step towards that direction. The Z Launcher learns how you use your phone and promotes your favorite apps so you can get to them faster. Whether you’re texting a certain someone, trying not to search for apps in the car, or multi-tasking at the office, your screen changes based on your everyday life. The more you use it, the better it gets. Interface-wise, the Z Launcher is different from most Android interfaces. It is very minimalistic and is devoid of widgets and Google's search bar.

Another interesting feature of the Z Launcher is that you can scribble on the screen what you’re looking for, and it will bring up a number of suggestions. Currently, it is only supported in limited Android devices, such as the Samsung Galaxy S3, Galaxy S4, Galaxy S5, Google Nexus 5, Sony Xperia Z1, Moto X, and HTC One. It is not yet available on the Google Play Store but it can be downloaded from Nokia's Z Launcher website.
