Vivo X5 Max - Now the World's Thinnest Smartphone

The Vivo X5 Max goes official and becomes the world's thinnest smartphone, dethroning the Oppo R5 which previously held that title. The Vivo X5 Max is super thin at just 4.75mm with a screen that is just 1.36mm thick. But despite its svelte profile, its specs are topnotch though not necessarily flagship grade.

The Vivo X5 Max is actually a phablet, sporting a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display of 1080p FullHD resolution. Inside it is a 64-bit Snapdragon 615 chipset, with a 1.7GHz quad-core Cortex A53 CPU and another 1.0GHz quad-core Cortex A53 CPU. It has 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage, which can be expanded via its microSD card slot. It has dual-SIM slots, which can accommodate one microSIM and one nanoSIM.

Imaging-wise, the Vivo X5 Max has a 13-MP primary camera, which uses a Sony IMX214 sensor, accompanied by an LED flash. In front, a 5-MP camera can be found. Vivo also managed to drill a 3.5mm headphone jack on top of it despite the phablet's very thin profile. A Yamaha YSS-205X chip is also built-in to ensure excellent audio output, along with Hi-Fi 2.0 support from the phablet's speakers. There's no mention about the phablet's battery life though. The Vivo X5 Max will ship with FunTouch OS 2.0, which is based on Android 4.4.4 KitKat and will become available on December 22 for $485.
