Alcatel Unveils A Duo of Reversible OneTouch IDOL 3 Smartphones

Smartphone manufacturers have come up with different marketing ploys and gimmicks to get noticed. Some have added fingerprint sensors, others have integrated eye scanners, and still some equipped their devices with curved or flexible displays. Well, Alcatel chose a different path and unveiled the world's first reversible smartphone. Reversible means that it can be positioned upside-down and the interface automatically flips. And it's not just one device, there are actually two - similar to the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus lineup - introducing the Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 smartphones.

The larger OneTouch Idol 3 smartphone is better equipped with a 5.5-inch 1080p Full HD IPS panel. It packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chipset with 64-bit octa-core processor paired with 2GB RAM and 16GB or 32GB of internal storage space. There is a 13-MP main camera on board with f/2.0 lens and an 8-MP wide-angle selfie camera. It also has dual front-facing JBL speakers and features Harman Kardon Clari-Fi tech. Even more impressive is equipping the phablet with a 2,910 mAh battery considering it is just 7.7 mm thin.

The smaller OneTouch Idol 3 smartphone has a 4.7-inch 720p HD display with a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 chipset. It still has a 13-MP primary camera but the selfie camera is downgraded to 5-MP.  It also has dual front-facing JBL speakers and features Harman Kardon Clari-Fi tech. A 2,000 mAh battery keeps the smartphone's lights on. Both smartphones come with LTE connectivity and will ship with Android 5.0 Lollipop. Alcatel prices the 5.5-inch model at €250 while the smaller model will cost just €200.
