ASUS Launches Intel-Powered ZenPad Tablets

ASUS has unveiled two new Android Lollipop-running tablets: the ZenPad 8 & the ZenPad S 8. They are the first ASUS tablets to carry the Zen brand and unsurprisingly, both are powered by Intel processors. The ZenPad S 8 Z580CA is the more high-end of the two, packing an 8-inch IPS LCD of 2,048 x 1,536 resolution. Ticking inside it is a quad-core Intel Atom Moorefield processor clocked at 2.3GHz with a PowerVR G6430 GPU and 4GB of LPDDR3 RAM. There's an 8-MP rear camera and a 5-MP front-facing shooter. It is a Wi-Fi only device and employs the new USB-C port for charging and connectivity.

Meanwhile, the ZenPad 8 Z380 is the more affordable option. It also packs an 8-inch IPS LCD but of a lower 1,280 x 800 resolution. It is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Intel Atom Silvermont processor with Mali 450MP4 GPU, 2GB RAM and 16GB of expandable internal storage. There's a 5-MP rear camera and a 2-MP front-facing unit. It one-ups its more expensive sibling by offering LTE support with phone functionality in addition to Wi-Fi. There's no official information yet on their pricing and availability.
