Samsung has gone full circle, literally, with the release of the Gear S2 - the highly anticipated Tizen-powered round smartwatch from the Korean giant. Aside from its circular shape, the Samsung Gear S2 comes with a rotating bezel, along with Home and Back buttons, and an IP68 rating, making it water and dust resistant. The Gear S2 will come in two variants: regular and classic.

The regular Gear S2 is the sportier of the two, which will have a dark gray case with black silicon band or a silver case with white silicon band. Meanwhile, the Gear S2 classic will feature a black case with matching leather band. Regardless of the variant, the Gear S2 packs a 1.2-inch fully circular Super AMOLED display with a 360 x 360 pixel resolution. That results in a pixel density of 302 ppi, which is quite sharp. The Gear S2 will be powered by a 1GHz dual-core CPU with 512MB RAM and 4GB of non-expandable internal storage. A heart rate sensor is also on board. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, and NFC. Both the regular and classic Gear S2 will also have with a 3G variant with e-SIM compatibility.

The regular Samsung Gear S2 measures 42.3 mm x 49.8 mm x 11.4 mm and weighs 47 grams while the Gear S2 classic measures 39.9 mm x 43.6 mm x 11.4 mm and weighs 42 grams. A 250 mAh battery will power the Wi-Fi only model, which could make it last up to 3 days of regular usage while a 300 mAh battery will come with the 3G variant and make it last for up to 2 days. The 3G variant is also heavier at 51 grams. Wireless charging is supported in all variants and models of the Gear S2. The Wi-Fi only Gear S2 will retail for $349 while the Wi-Fi only Gear S2 Classic will cost $399. Their 3G variants are expected to be more expensive.
