The LG G5 is now official! At MWC 2016, LG has unveiled its newest Android flagship smartphone. Unlike most other flagship smartphones, the LG G5 features a modular design, similar to that of Google's Project Ara. It has a "fluid metal" body and beveled glass on front. Its modular component can be found at the bottom, which allows the user to access the battery, SD card slot, and add-on grips. The add-ons vary from a camera grip called LG Cam Plus, which adds an addition 1,100 mAh battery and hardware keys like the shutter key, video button, and zoom dial, to the Bang & Olufsen DAC grip, which allows for an even better audio quality. With all these hardware, the G5 measures 149.4 mm x 73.9 mm x 7.7 mm and weighs just 159 grams.

The LG G5 packs a 5.3-inch IPS Quantum display of Quad HD resolution. It also has an Always-On Display feature, which shows time, date, and notifications. Under the hood is a 64-bit quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC with 4GB RAM and 32GB of expandable internal storage. The new LG flagship runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with the latest LG UX on top. One thing to note is that LG has removed the app drawer to simplify its interface. Other hardware features include a 2,800 mAh removable battery, a USB Type-C charging port, which supports rapid charging and Quick Charge 3.0, and a rear fingerprint scanner, which doubles as a power button.

Imaging-wise, the LG G5 is equipped with a 16-MP primary camera coupled with an 8-MP wide-angle camera with LED flash. Both cameras have a wide Field of View (FoV) and images from both can be merged with various effects and provide a real-time preview. There's also an 8-MP front-facing camera in the LG G5. Connectivity options include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, and Cat 12 LTE. The LG G5 will come in four different colors: silver, titan, pink, and gold. It will launch in April 2016 with a starting price of $600.
