The story goes like this: We always knew they were coming back. After 'Independence Day' redefined the event movie genre, the next epic chapter delivers global spectacle on an unimaginable scale. Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet. But nothing can prepare us for the aliens' advanced and unprecedented force. Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction.

Independence Day: Resurgence is of action, adventure, and sci-fi genre, which runs for approximately 120 minutes. It's Rated PG-13 in most countries for sequences of sci-fi action and destruction, and for some language. At first, I was excited to see this film until I read some initial reviews. Despite the flak it got from critics, I still decided to see it in a movie house. Guess what? It was indeed disastrous and an utter disappointment. At this day and age, the visual effects used were sub-par. While it was great to see some of the old cast return, most of the new ones were not very good. The acting was forced and dry. It was no where near as epic and memorable as its prequel. The first part was very dragging and most of the action scenes were messy and literally a disaster. This film did not give justice to the original movie. I just hope that if they come up with a sequel, it would be a million light years better.

RATING: 3 out of 5 STARS
