Movie Review: Oblivion

Topbilled by Tom Cruise and Morgan Freeman, Oblivion is an action, sci-fi movie that will surely drain your brain and will make your mind boggled. While it may seem like an end-of-the-world movie at first, it actually is a story of a veteran assigned to extract Earth's remaining resources who begins to question what he knows about his mission and himself. With a $120-million dollar-budget, Oblivion has so much to offer in terms of visual effects, which will never fail to amaze you.

The story goes like this: Jack Harper is one of the last few drone repairmen stationed on Earth. Part of a massive operation to extract vital resources after decades of war with a terrifying threat known as the Scavs, Jack's mission is nearly complete. Living in and patrolling the skies from thousands of feet above, his existence is brought crashing down when he rescues a stranger from a downed spacecraft. Her arrival triggers a chain of events that forces him to question everything he knows and puts the fate of humanity in his hands.

I must say that this is not a movie for everyone as it involves a lot of thinking and thinking and thinking. Children surely won't appreciate this movie except for the special effects. After all, the movie is rated PG-13. As mentioned earlier, it is an action-filled, fantasy, sci-fi movie that would need your full attention. If you did like Shutter Island or Inception, you will surely like Oblivion. The plot has a cool twist to it but if you're not that focused on every dialogue, you can be lost in the story. The film runs for more than 2 hours so better do your washroom break before it starts and be sure to bring an ample amount of food and drinks. Enjoy the movie!

RATING: 4 out of 5 STARS

Nice review Nash. Nothing worth really venturing out for, but for the sci-fi fans out there; they’ll be happy with what they see for the most part.

Thank you Dan.
