Restaurant Review: Haru Sushi Bar & Restaurant

Haru Sushi Bar & Restaurant is perhaps the only Japanese restaurant you can find along West Capitol Drive in Barangay Kapitolyo, Pasig City. In case you don't know, Haru means Spring in Japanese. It is owned and managed by the Cafe Juanita Group.


The restaurant is big enough to accommodate a lot of guests. You may choose to be seated inside or at their veranda. Aside from the name of the resto and its menu, the place looks very Japanese due to its interiors. It is decorated with headless mannequins wearing kimonos, cherry blossoms, Japanese fans, paintings, bamboo and other wood carvings, and many more. Think of it as Cafe Juanita and just change the theme to Japanese. The place is well-lit and air-conditioned. The seats are comfy enough. The restrooms are clean and complete with toiletries. Their staff is very accommodating as well. You have to ring a bell hanging above your table to get their attention.


As for the menu, they serve various Japanese dishes from sushis and makis to tonkatsus and other fried stuff to teriyakis to ramen noodles to tempuras, and many more. You name it and they most likely have it. We ordered their crazy roll (their best-selling maki), ebi tempura, gyoza, tonkatsu with curry sauce, and grilled chicken. It takes about 20 minutes for the food to be served. The serving size depends on the food you order but some are good for sharing. The food tastes good and authentic. The prices are quite expensive but for a Japanese restaurant, they are somehow reasonable. You need around PhP500 for a complete meal.


Haru Sushi Bar & Restaurant takes reservations, accept walk-ins, and take-outs. It is open daily even on holidays. The restaurant is perfect for family gatherings, meetings, and special occasions. As mentioned, budget needed is around PhP500. If you order makis, they're good for sharing already. My only concern is their limited parking area. But that is the case with all restaurants in the area.
