Restaurant Review: Savor Filipino Cuisine

Savor Filipino Cuisine is the home of Filipino dishes at Rockwell - Rockwell Business Center that is...located along Ortigas Avenue in Pasig City. They serve mainly Filipino food, and you can find a lot of them on their menu, from appetizers like cowboy sisig and sipa, to soups like batchoy and munggo sabaw sosyal, to noodles like fried efuven, to savor salad, to entrees like savor kare-kare and krispy pork binagoongan...you name it, mostly like they have a version of it.

The restaurant has just one floor but can accommodate up to 50 people. It's not that big but it's not cramped either. Their walls have bright wallpaper with very minimal decoration. From their ceiling hangs intricately designed lamps. The place is air-conditioned and well-lit. They have several attendants and waiters ready to take your order. They seem well-trained and are very accommodating. Did I mention they have Wi-Fi?

As mentioned, they serve primarily Filipino cuisine...but they're not just your ordinary Filipino dishes. They are not Filipino fusion either. They serve dishes coming from heirloom recipes passed from one generation to another. They also added some personal touch to their dishes to give them a different kick. We ate some of their best-sellers, which include crab & shrimp relleno, smoked sardine efuven, cowboy sisig, sa pula sa puti (their version of 2-way adobo), savor maruya, among others.

The food taste good in general. I really enjoyed the crab & shrimp relleno, which is very flavorful. The krispy pork binagoongan is also good, which happened to be the favorite dish of the people I was with. When it comes to their desserts, the savor maruya would be a perfect choice. It's sweet, crispy, and yummy. Waiting time for food orders takes about 15 to 20 minutes depending on what you order. The food prices are very reasonable, and even cheaper when compared to restaurants nearby. They also happen to have their own restroom complete with soap and tissue so you don't have to leave the restaurant for bathroom breaks. If there is something they can improve on, it would be their menu. It needs to have photos of the dishes so that one would know how they look like.

Savor Filipino Cuisine is perfect for individuals, families and professionals who like Filipino food. Budget needed is about PhP200-300 per person. They are open daily. They also have a branch (Zarzuela by Savor) at the East Wing of Shangri-La Plaza. They accept dine-ins, take-outs, catering, and food orders.

It was a night of fun, friendship and crazy Filipino flavors as Rockwell held another Bloggers’ Night at its newest establishment, Savor Filipino Cuisine at the Rockwell Business Center in Ortigas. Apart from the crazy Filipino-inspired games (Pinoy Box Office Trivia anyone?), the distinct flair of Savor’s food left everyone with full smiles and even fuller tummies. Bloggers, family and friends enjoyed the unique Filipino menu – created from the age-old Family recipes of Savor’s founders but with modern tweaks to meet this generation’s taste-buds.

Savor Filipino Cuisine was born out of a shared desire amongst its founders to bring classic recipes to a young new generation of Pinoy-food-loving diners. Partners Mel Dumlao, Raquel Estrella, Owen Gan and Executive Chef Trina Tiaoqui-Imperial were inspired not just by their love of Filipino food but also their love of making, sharing, and celebrating with our local cuisine. They put together a menu crafted from classic family recipes handed down from generations but with some personal touches to give it a different kick.
