Meet the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact

To properly compete with the likes of HTC One mini and the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini, Sony has officially released the "mini me" of its highly popular flagship smartphone Xperia Z1: the Xperia Z1 Compact. Unlike its competitors, the Xperia Z1 Compact does not compromise on its specs and offers almost everything the Xperia Z1 flagship has.

The Xperia Z1 Compact measures 127 mm x 64.9 mm x 9.5 mm and weighs just 137g. It packs a 4.3-inch Triluminos IPS display of 720p resolution (341ppi) (Note that the Xperia Z1 has a bigger 5-inch screen and a higher FullHD display). Just like the Xperia Z1, it packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset with quad-core Krait 400 clocked at 2.2GHz. It also comes with Adreno 330 GPU and 2GB of RAM. Its 16GB internal storage is expandable up to 64GB via microSD card slot. It will run on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean out-of-the-box but will soon be updated to Android 4.4 KitKat.

When it comes to imaging, there are no compromises as well. It is equipped with the same 20.7-MP primary camera with Carl Zeiss optics, optical image stabilization and LED flash. Video capture maxes out at 1080p FullHD @ 30fps. It also has a 2-MP front-facing camera for selfies and video calls. In terms of connectivity, it has everything checked from NFC, A-GPS + GLONASS, WLAN (2.4/5Ghz) a/b/g/n/ac, microUSB 2.0 (MHL), Bluetooth 4.0 LE, and a smorgasbord of sensors. Everything is powered by an ample 2,300 mAh battery pack. It will be available in Black, White, Pink, Lime, and Yellow color options when it hits the market. Did I mention that it is water-resistant too?
