It does not come as a surprise that battery life is the most important consideration in getting a new smartphone across all three major mobile platforms. It is particularly high among Android users at 56% considering how power-hungry some Android smartphones are. No wonder Android OEMs are packing their smartphones with the largest battery capacity possible.

Some interesting data include Windows Phone devices being purchased by consumers for its OS (40%). It means that Windows Phone buyers purchased their device specifically because they ran Windows Phone. That's higher than on Android (37%) and iOS (32%).

As for iOS devices, iPhone users buy their smartphones because of the brand - Apple. Apple has continuously projected itself as a premium brand that many consumers aspire having. It's all about the brand and prestige among iPhone users (32%).

Lastly, Android users are particular with the screen size of their smartphones (37%). No wonder Android smartphones come in a gamut of display sizes.

Any thoughts on the survey conducted?
