Nokia Surprises Everyone w/ N1 Android Tablet

Just when everybody thought that Nokia is dead in the realm of smartphones and tablets, the Finnish company has unveiled a new tablet called Nokia N1. And yes, it is Android-powered that boots Android 5.0 Lollipop with the Nokia Z Launcher on top.

The Nokia N1 sports an aluminum unibody design with a 7.9-inch IPS LCD of 2048 x 1536 pixel resolution and a 4:3 aspect ratio. It is protected by Gorilla Glass 3 and comes with a fully laminated zero air gap display. These specs alone make the Nokia N1 eerily similar to the iPad mini line. Moreover, the N1 also comes with stereo speakers at the bottom and a split volume rocker, which is exactly the same as that of the iPad mini.

Ticking inside it is a 64-bit 2.3GHz Intel Atom Z3580 processor, PowerVR G6430 GPU with 2GB RAM and 32GB of non-expandable storage. It has an 8-MP rear camera and a 5-MP front-facing snapper. Connectivity-wise, it features dual channel 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi with MIMO, Bluetooth 4.0, and micro-USB 2.0 with a Type-C reversible connector. Everything is powered by a 5,300 mAh battery pack. The Nokia N1 will first launch in China in Q1 2015 for just $249 and will come in Natural Aluminum and Lava Gray color variants.
