Restaurant Review: Kettle

Kettle is a posh restaurant that can be found at the East Wing of Shangri-La Plaza. They offer a combination of American and European dishes. According to their website, "dishes in Kettle have given traditional food a worthy upgrade," probably by making them more flavorful, or by adding variety, or a twist to the original.

The entire restaurant (including the tables and chairs outside) can probably accommodate about 50 or so individuals. Since it is inside the mall, the place is air-conditioned. Inside, it has a very modern interior and the lighting adds to its charm. The waiters are very accommodating and knowledgeable about the menu.


We ordered pork and potato strips, buttermilk fried chicken, truffle gorgonzola, calamari, and peach iced tea carafe. The pork and potato strips has some fancy presentation going on. It tastes okay and nothing extraordinary. It is kinda filling on the tummy too. The buttermilk fried chicken was the best among the dishes we ordered. The meat was tender and tasty. It came with soft cornbread, which is the one of the best I've tasted. The truffle gorgonzola, which is a pasta dish, did not taste that good, probably because of the overpowering taste of truffle. The calamari is good but also nothing extraordinary. Their peach iced tea tasted exactly like Starbucks' Tazo peach tea. The serving size varies by dish.

Kettle is perfect for families, young professionals, and group of friends who like contemporary, fancy yet delicious food. Budget needed is about PhP400 per person on average. They accept cash and credit card transactions. They are open daily from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM. They accept reservations, walk-ins, and take-outs. Parking is available at the basement of Shangri-La Plaza East Wing.
