Archos Showcases Budget Android Smartphones at MWC 2015

At MWC 2015, French company Archos showcased a pack of Android smartphones. It is spearheaded by the 50 Oxygen Plus, which features a 5-inch display of 720p HD resolution. It is powered by an octa-core 1.4GHz MediaTek chipset paired with 1GB RAM and 8GB of expandable internal storage. Imaging-wise, it comes with an 8-MP primary camera and a 5-MP selfie camera. It runs Android 4.4 KitKat and will be updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop. It is 4G LTE-capable and will launch June 2015. A 3G-variant will cost about $200 and will be released this March 2015.

Up next is a trio of affordable Android smartphones, which include the Archos 52 Platinum, Archos 59 Xenon, and Archos 62 Xenon. All three are powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek processor with 1GB RAM and 8GB of expandable internal storage. All three have 8-MP primary cameras and are 3G-capable. These are where their similarities end. The Archos 62 Xenon has a 5-MP selfie cam while the Archos 52 Platinum and Archos 59 Xenon only have 2-MP selfie cams. Their screen sizes also vary, which is obvious by their names. The Archos 52 Platinum has a 5.25-inch display, the Archos 59 Xenon comes with a 5.9-inch display, and the Archos 62 Xenon has a huge 6.27-inch screen. All three smartphones have a 720x1280 HD screen resolution. The pricing is as follows: $145 for the Archose 52 Platinum, $158 for the Archos 59 Xenon, and $170 for Archos the 62 Xenon, which makes all three affordable Android smartphone options.
