The Sony Xperia A4 gets launched in Japan and it is eerily similar to the Xperia Z3 Compact in terms of looks, dimensions and features. Despite not having the "Compact" moniker, the Xperia A4 is actually a compact device as it measures 128 mm x 66 mm x 9.1 mm and weighs just 129 grams. Like many Sony Xperia smartphones, it also adheres to the OmniBalance design language and comes with IP68 dust and water proofing.

The smartphone packs a 4.6-inch Triluminos display of 720p HD resolution and comes with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset with 2GB RAM and 16GB of expandable internal storage. In terms of photography, there's is a 20.7-MP rear camera with LED flash and a 2.2-MP front-facing shooter. Connectivity-wise, LTE, Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth 4.0 with APT-X, NFC, GPS with GLONASS and MHL support are all on-board. There's also a 2,600 mAh to keep the smartphone's lights on for 2-3 days.

The Sony Xperia A4 will come in black, white, blue and pink color variants but there's no word yet on its official pricing. It may also not leave the shores of Japan as it is already very similar to the internationally available Xperia Z3 Compact.
