Movie Review: Warcraft
Warcraft is an American epic fantasy film directed by Duncan Jones and written by Jones, Charles Leavitt and Chris Metzen. It is based on the Warcraft video game series and novels set in the world of Azeroth. The film stars Travis Fimmel, Paula Patton, Ben Foster, Dominic Cooper, Toby Kebbell, Ben Schnetzer, Robert Kazinsky and Daniel Wu. The film portrays the initial encounters between the humans and the orcs and takes place in a variety of locations established in the video game series. The film is set to be released by Universal Pictures on June 10, 2016 but has already been released in France, Indonesia, and the Philippines on May 25, 2016. The film had a budget of $160 million.Warcraft is of action, adventure, and fantasy genre, which runs for approximately 123 minutes. It's Rated PG-13 in most countries for extended sequences of intense fantasy violence. I was quite excited to see this film as I've played Warcraft on PC when I was younger. It is always a joy to see these characters you were playing with before on the big screen. But I have to say this...I'm a bit disappointed with the movie. Aside from the cliche scenes and story line, the casting and acting were not really that good. The plot itself is troublesome and can get confusing at times. There were too many characters from different worlds and their names are hard to decipher. Sure, there were great action scenes but overall the movie just disappointed me. I hope they could come up with a better sequel. A computer game as great as Warcraft deserves better.
