Gionee M6 & M6 Plus w/ Data Encryption Chip

Gionee, a Chinese smartphone brand, officially announced the M6 and M6 Plus in China. Their headlining feature is security. Both handsets are equipped with a data encryption chip that protects data from malware and prevents communications from being intercepted and decrypted. The Gionee M6 and M6 Plus may look similar on the outside but they slightly differ in specifications.

The Gionee M6 is the smaller of the two but in itself is already a phablet. It packs a 5.5-inch AMOLED display of 1080p Full HD resolution. Ticking inside is an octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 processor with 4GB RAM and up to 128GB of expandable internal storage. It has a 13-MP main camera with phase detection auto-focus and a dual-tone flash. Below is a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. There's also an 8-MP selfie camera in front. As for connectivity, all the basics are supported, including LTE and USB OTG. Despite its svelte body, an extremely large 5,000 mAh battery will keep the M6's lights on, which is good for up to 33 days of standby time according to Gionee.

Then we have the larger Gionee M6 Plus, which has a 6-inch AMOLED display of 1080p Full HD resolution. It has the same processor and connectivity features as its smaller sibling. However, the M6 Plus comes with a 16-MP rear camera with phase detection auto-focus and dual-tone, dual-LED flash. An 8-MP camera can also be found in front. It also has an even larger 6,020 mAh battery. Both the Gionee M6 and M6 Plus will come in Champagne Gold and Mocha Gold variants and will retail for $403 and $448, respectively. Sure, they are a bit pricey for a Chinese brand but they come with topnotch security and gargantuan batteries.
