Meet the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 & Mi MIX

Xiaomi has finally made the Mi Note 2 phablet official in China. With an uncanny resemblance to the ill-fated Samsung Galaxy Note 7, the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 also impresses with a dual-curved edge display. Measuring 156.2 mm x 77.3 mm 7.6 mm and weighing 166 grams, the Mi Note 2 phablet packs a 5.7-inch flexible OLED display of 1080p Full HD resolution. It has a high 77.2% screen-to-body ratio. The phablet's rear is also made of dual-curved edge glass and the whole thing is held together by an aluminum frame.

Under the hood is a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset with 4GB/6GB LPDDR4 RAM and 64GB/128GB of internal storage. It runs MIUI 8, which is based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. As for connectivity, it has NFC for Mi Pay, a fingerprint scanner, USB Type-C, GPS, DAC support, and 37 LTE bands support. The phablet is powered by a large 4,070 mAh battery, which supports Quick Charge 3.0. As for photography, the Mi Note 2 sports a 22.56-MP primary camera with a Sony IMX268 sensor, an f/2.0 aperture, EIS, hybrid phase detection and contrast auto-focus, and dual-tone, dual-LED flash. An 8-MP Sony IMX268 secondary snapper with auto-focus and an f/2.0 aperture is also on-board.

The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 will come in Piano Black and Glacier Silver color options. Pricing starts at $415 for the 4GB variant and goes up to $520 for the global version. It will become available starting November 1, 2016.

Apart from the Mi Note 2, Xiaomi also made a splash with the launch of the Mi MIX phablet, which was designed in collaboration with Philippe Stark. The Xiaomi Mi MIX comes with 6.4-inch edge-to-edge (almost) display and a body made with ceramic. This amounts to a record-breaking 91.3% screen-to-body ratio. Ticking inside is a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC with 4GB/6GB LPDDR4 RAM and 128GB/256GB of internal storage. It runs MIUI 8, which is based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. A large 4,400 mAh battery, which supports Quick Charge 3.0, will keep its lights on.

Connectivity-wise, the Mi MIX comes with NFC, USB Type-C, LTE, a rear fingerprint scanner (with 18k gold trim for the Pro version), support for 24-bit audio, and more. Imaging-wise, the Mi MIX packs a 16-MP primary camera with phase detection auto-focus and dual-tone, dual-LED flash. There's also a 5-MP front-facing shooter near the bottom. Coming in two variants, the regular Mi MIX will retail for $517 while the Pro variant will cost $590. It will become available on November 4, 2016 and will ship with a free leather case. Any takers?
