ASUS ZenFone 3 Zoom & ZenFone AR Launched at CES 2017

ASUS announced two new smartphones at CES 2017. They are the ZenFone AR and ZenFone 3 Zoom. The former supports both Tango (Google's augmented reality system) and Daydream (Google's virtual reality system) but you can't combine the two. It's either you use a Daydream VR headset for Daydream apps or go to Tango mode for Tango apps. The ASUS ZenFone AR comes with a large 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display of Quad HD resolution. Under the hood is a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset with a record-breaking 8GB RAM. It has a rather complex camera system to enable AR. Its main camera uses a 23-MP Sony IMX 318 sensor with OIS, EIS, and 4K video capture support. It also has motion tracking and depth sensing cameras. There is no information yet on pricing and other specifications but it will become available in Q2 2017.

Then we have the ASUS ZenFone 3 Zoom, which is successor to the ZenFone Zoom. It packs a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display of 1080p Full HD resolution, protected by Gorilla Glass 5. Ticking inside is an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC with up to 4GB RAM and up to 128GB of expandable internal storage. Android 6.0 Marshmallow (topped with Zen UI) runs on the background and a large 5,000 mAh battery will keep its light on. As for photography, it comes with dual primary cameras a la iPhone 7 Plus. There's a 12-MP wide angle Sony IMX 362 lens with an f/1.7 aperture, OIS, EIS, and 4K video capture support. Then there's another 12-MP lens capable of up to 2.3x optical zoom.. Dual-pixel phase detection, laser, and continuous auto-focus are all on-board. Launching in February 2017, the ZenFone 3 Zoom will come in black, silver, and rose gold color options. Pricing has yet be announced. Any buyers?
