The 'Lotus' Album Review
So finally Lotus has arrived in the Philippine shores. While most Fighters could have downloaded the album already via iTunes, many still would want to grab a copy of the physical CD as part of their Christina Aguilera collection. And there are so many reasons why you should get a copy of Lotus. It's the seventh studio album of Christina Aguilera following the Burlesque soundtrack and Bionic. Lotus is a combination of hardcore pop, EDM, country, R&B, and pop-rock songs. It's quite shorter than her previous albums, even with the deluxe edition songs added to the list. Nonetheless, there are several catchy songs and less filler songs. In this album, she has worked with producer Max Martin for the first time, whose known to have produced hits for Britney Spears and The Backstreet Boys.
So here's the track list for Lotus Deluxe Edition:
- Lotus Intro
- Army Of Me
- Red Hot Kinda Love
- Make The World Move (feat. CeeLo Green)
- Your Body
- Let There Be Love
- Sing For Me
- Blank Page
- Cease Fire
- Around The World
- Circles
- Best Of Me
- Just A Fool (with Blake Shelton)
- Light Up The Sky
- Empty Words
- Shut Up
- Your Body (Martin Garrix Remix)
A total of 17 tracks for the Deluxe Edition, which includes power ballads like Just A Fool, Blank Page, and Sing For Me, electro-pop songs like Let There Be Love and Red Hot Kinda Love, hardcore pop songs like Your Body and Make The World Move, pop-rock songs like Around The World and Army Of Me, and a Martin Garrix remix of Your Body. Like Bionic, it has a parental advisory tag on it for explicit content.
The theme of her songs revolves around empowerment, equality, rebirth, and love. As mentioned, she has collaborated with fellow coaches on The Voice, CeeLo Green and Blake Shelton. Just A Fool is in fact Aguilera's first venture in the country music genre.
So which tracks are my favorite? I definitely love the first single Your Body as it showcases Aguilera's vocal power. I also love the power ballads Blank Page and Just A Fool. The lyrics are very heart-felt and emotional. My other anthems include Around The World, Army Of Me, Cease Fire, Let There Be Love, and Make The World Move. The Martin Garrix remix of Your Body is perhaps the best remix I've heard of that song. The other songs were, I guess, okay.
MY RATING: 4 out of 5 STARS
By the way, now that Lotus is out, be sure to grab a copy of it on iTunes, Amazon.com, or Christina's website. A deluxe version of the said album is also available. You can get the CD from all Odyssey Live outlets in the country. The album is distributed by Ivory Records Philippines.

Hey! Tell if I'm crazy or have a damaged physical copy, but I think that on the backside of actual audio CD there is lotus picture painted (I have E.U. copy). Is it just me or other you got it too?
There is a lotus printed on top of the CD. That's it. =)
