Movie Review: Life of Pi
Life of Pi is a masterpiece from award-winning director Ang Lee. The story of the film revolves around Pi and religion. Despite the hype and hefty budget, the film did not do well in the box office. If there's any consolation, it did win awards like Best Original Score in the recently concluded Golden Globe Awards 2013.Image by TiredofPreviews.com |
Life of Pi, based on the best-selling novel by Yann Martel, is a magical adventure story centering on Pi Patel, the precocious son of a zoo keeper. Dwellers in Pondicherry, India, the family decides to move to Canada, hitching a ride on a huge freighter. After a shipwreck, Pi finds himself adrift in the Pacific Ocean on a 26-foot lifeboat with a zebra, a hyena, an orangutan and a 450-pound Bengal tiger named Richard Parker, all fighting for survival.
"Religion is obscurity. Religion is darkness."

There’s a lot of beauty, a lot of inspiration, and a lot to look at here, but overall, the story takes over the last-act and sort of leaves a bit of a bad taste in your mouth as you’re leaving. Good review Nash.
I agree with you. 100%. =)
