Sony Xperia Tablet Z: The Waterproof Tablet

Borrowing the IP57 certification from its smartphone cousin, the Xperia Z, the Sony Xperia Tablet Z is also waterproof and is not afraid to join you on your beach trip. Not only that, it is also very slender at 6.9 mm, thanks to the OmniBalance design by Sony, which was also borrowed from the Xperia Z.

The Xperia Tablet Z has a 10.1″ WUXGA display (1,920 x 1,200) and a pixel density of 224 ppi. It also has wide viewing angles. Powered by the Snapdragon S4 Pro, it is very much capable to play anything you load into it. It is also equipped with an 8-MP Exmor R camera with Superior Auto.
The Xperia Tablet Z comes in two versions – Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + LTE. It also has a microSD card slot for storage expansion.


The Xperia Tablet Z takes after the Tablet S with a stock-looking Android that has been enhanced with things like Small apps. There’s also an IR emitter that can be used to control equipment at home. The cool thing about Sony’s app is that it can learn the commands from the real remote control of the device. The Sony Xperia Tablet Z also comes with a few other handy apps, which you can see on the demo video above.
