Amazon Fire Comes w/ Dynamic Perspective Sensor

Amazon has officially entered the smartphone market with the launching of the Fire phone. The Amazon Fire is equipped with top-of-the-line features to battle it out with other smartphone flagships. It boasts a 4.7-inch IPS LCD of 720p HD resolution with 590 nits of brightness, protected by Corning's Gorilla Glass 3. A circular polarizer layer is also built in, which provides the screen great contrast and good visibility under direct sunlight. The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset with a 2.2 GHz quad-core CPU and Adreno 330 GPU plus 2GB RAM. Yes, it also supports 4G LTE. The Amazon Fire measures in at 139.2mm x 66.5mm x 8.9 mm and weighs 160 grams. So what makes this flagship smartphone different from the rest?

Well, it comes with a 3D-like Dynamic Perspective Sensor, which follows the location of your eyes and head numerous times per second, and adjusts the interface accordingly, giving perspective to the typical flat 2D images you see on a regular handset. This is done by four wide-angle view front cameras with infrared lights, making this the most innovative feature of the Amazon Fire. This can be used for touchless interface navigation, scrolling, and even gaming.

The Amazon Fire also features Firefly, which makes use of the phone's rear camera to recognize over 100 million items - from TV shows, to music you're listening to, down to household items. A built-in OCR (Optical Character Recognition) engine also allows the Fire Phone to scan text and numbers, allowing you to quickly place calls, for example.

Like the LG G3, the Amazon Fire comes with a 13-MP rear shooter with f/2.0 aperture and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). It is also able to shoot videos at 1080p FullHD resolution. Aside from the powerful camera, it also has side-mounted dual stereo speakers with Dolby virtual surround sound. For better audio listening, the Amazon Fire comes with a pair of in-ear headphones with flat cables for tangle-free experience. And since there are no Google services present in the device, which is expected for an Amazon device, the Fire Phone integrates the Nokia HERE mapping solution for navigation. For apps and games, users can download them directly from the Amazon AppStore, which has more than 250,000 applications to date. You can also download movies, songs, TV shows, and more on the AppStore.

Sadly, the Amazon fire will be exclusive to AT&T and shipping will start on July 25. A 32GB Fire Phone costs $199 and comes in a 2-year contract. A 64GB version is also available at $299. Contract-free, one can get it for $649. There's no information on global availability. So, will you be getting this phone?
