Restaurant Review: CAV Wine Shop - Cafe

CAV Wine Shop - Cafe is a wine shop and restaurant located at Bonifacio High Street in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. It offers casual ambiance where people can enjoy quality portion or bottled wines with inspired meals. According to its Facebook page, CAV is designed to cater to a variety of events as it features an all-day café, a main dining area, and a private function room. At the heart of CAV is a temperature-controlled wine cellar, which holds more than 500 different kinds of wine priced competitively and sold at retail prices even in dining.

The entire restaurant is spacious with curtains and some walls that double as partition. It is air-conditioned but the lighting is really dim and it's probably supposed to be like that. It looks beautiful inside but one couldn't really appreciate the architecture and design when the place is not well-lit. The tables are covered with a cloth and on top of it are white papers which serve as place mats. I found out that you can actually draw on these papers and they'd gladly give you pens and crayons too. The restaurant can accommodate more than a hundred people. They have a lot of staff but when the restaurant gets full of customers, they seem to struggle.

Green Tea + Coconut Crusted Shrimp
For wine tasting and pairing, we got one red wine and one white wine. They refilled our goblets every time they would get empty. As for the food, we chose the Prix Fixe Menu, where you can choose any three or four courses from the selection that they have. Everything on the list seemed mouthwatering but to be honest, I'm not really familiar with most of what's written there. In fact, I asked the waiter to explain to me some of their dishes. As you can see on the photos, we ordered some steak, truffle mushroom soup, and shrimp carpaccio but they also provided us with some appetizers including bread and butter. Waiting time is at least 30 minutes, which can make you really hungry. While the serving is not really big, the food themselves are quite heavy on the tummy.

CAV Wine Shop - Cafe is perfect for expats, young professionals, and families who like eating good food paired with fine wine. Budget needed is about PhP2,000 per person on average. Yes, it is not cheap at all. They accept cash and credit card transactions. They are open daily from 11:00 AM to 12:00 AM (up to 2:00 AM on Friday and Saturday nights). They accept reservations, walk-ins, deliveries, caterings, and take-outs. Pay parking is available in Bonifacio High Street. The food is really good only if you have enough money to pay for it.
