Blu Launches Studio 7.0 Smartphone w/ 7-Inch Display

US-based consumer electronics company Blu launches the Studio 7.0, which it touts as the world's first smartphone with a 7-inch display. This may not be necessarily true as we've seen smartphones in the past sporting such huge displays like the Samsung Galaxy W and Huawei MediaPad X1.

The Blu Studio 7.0 packs a 7-inch display of a meager 600 x 1,024 pixel resolution, resulting in a very low pixel density of 169 ppi. Ticking inside it is a dual-core 1.3 GHz MediaTek processor paired with 1GB RAM and 8GB of expandable internal storage. It has a 5-MP main camera with autofocus and LED flash and a 2-MP front-facing camera for selfies. Measuring 87.5 mm x 103 mm x 9.4 mm and weighing 294 grams, it is quite large for a smartphone and more appropriate to be called a tablet. It runs Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box.

Retailing for only $149 from Amazon, it is quite a steal. It has four color variants: gray, white, blue, and gold. It is encased with a perforated plastic material, which is very much like that of the Samsung Galaxy S5. Is it really acceptable for smartphones to be this big?
