Movie Review: Furious 7

Furious 7, also known as Fast & Furious 7, is a 2015 American action film, which is the sequel to the 2013 film Fast & Furious 6 and the seventh installment in the Fast & Furious film series. It stars Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris Bridges, Kurt Russell, and Jason Statham. This installment marks the final film appearance of Paul Walker, who died tragically in an accident last November 2013. This is also the first film in the series to be available in 3D. Furious 7 did not disappoint in the box office. In fact, it was both a critical and commercial success. To date, it has grossed over $500 millon at the box office, making it the second highest-grossing film of 2015.

The story goes like this: Dominic Torretto and his crew thought they left the criminal mercenary life behind. They defeated an international terrorist named Owen Shaw and went their seperate ways. But now, Shaw's brother, Deckard Shaw is out killing the crew one by one for revenge. Worse, a Somalian terrorist called Jakarde, and a shady government official called "Mr. Nobody" are both competing to steal a computer terrorism program called God's Eye, that can turn any technological device into a weapon. Torretto must reconvene with his team to stop Shaw and retrieve the God's Eye program while caught in a power struggle between terrorist and the United States government.

Furious 7 is of adventure and action genre, which runs for approximately 137 minutes. It's rated PG-13 in most countries for prolonged frenetic sequences of violence, action and mayhem, suggestive content, and brief strong language. The film sure did generate a lot of buzz especially after Paul Walker's untimely death. With that aside, I can say that this is the best film of the entire movie franchise. The actors, the scenes, the stunts, the effects, and even the locations - all had been taken to the next level. Michelle Rodriguez, Kurt Russell, Vin Diesel, and Jason Statham were all commendable with regard to their acting. Ludacris, Tyrese Gibson, and Dwayne Johnson were funny as hell. The action scenes were endless and really heart-pounding. The stunts were amazing especially when the race cars were dropped from a plane and went parachuting. Even the locations used were fascinating - from US to Azerbaijan to Dubai to Tokyo to Dominican Republic - there was no shortage of breath-taking scenery. The soundtrack deserves a nod too. A lot of the songs used were catchy and perfect for the scenes. But at the end of the day, everyone will surely and sorely miss Paul Walker and his piercing blue eyes. May he forever rest in peace. Furious 7 is highly recommended to everyone, even those who have not seen any of the film's previous installments. The film is available in 2D, 3D, and IMAX.

RATING: 5 out of 5 STARS
