Galaxy S6 Edge+: The Galaxy S6 Phablet
After countless leaks along with the Samsung Galaxy Note5, the Galaxy S6 edge+ is now official. It is basically a carbon copy of the Galaxy S6 edge, including its metal and glass trim and the dual curved edges. It measures 154.4 mm x 75.8 mm x 6.9 mm, making it bulkier yet a tad thinner than the Galaxy S6 edge. The Galaxy S6 edge+ packs a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display of Quad HD resolution. This translates to a pixel density of 518 ppi, which is still very sharp. It is powered by the same chip used in the Galaxy S6, which is a 14nm 64-bit, octa-core Exynos 7420 with 4GB RAM and 32GB/64GB/128GB of non-expandable internal storage. All storage variants will feature the high-speed UFS 2.0 storage. In the camera department, the Galaxy S6 edge+ comes with the same 16-MP primary camera that can be found on the Galaxy S6 edge, with a wide f/1.9 aperture, OIS (optical image stabilization), and LED flash. It can also capture 4K videos. Meanwhile, the front camera is a 5-MP unit. For multimedia, the Galaxy S6 edge+ also features Ultra High Quality Audio (UHQA) to upscale audio streams and files for richer, high-quality sound. UHQA is supported over Bluetooth on Samsung’s next generation wireless audio accessories. Connectivity options include Bluetooth, dual-channel Wi-Fi, GPS, GLONASS, NFC and LTE. It also has a touch type fingerprint scanner and a heart rate monitor. A large 3,000 mAh non-removable battery will keep the flagship phablet's lights on. It supports both rapid charging and wireless charging out of the box.
