Sony SmartBand 2 w/ Heart Rate Sensor

The Sony SmartBand 2 goes official and now comes with an optical heart rate sensor and LED notification. Like most smartbands, the SmartBand 2 measures your heart rate, gauges your fitness level, tracks sleeping patterns, and counts your steps. It is IP68 certified so it can withstand dust and water up to 3 meters deep for as long as 30 minutes. All information is stored in the Sony Lifelog app, which can be downloaded for both Android and iOS devices.


As mentioned, the SmartBand 2 also comes with RGB LEDs that blink differently when you get a call, text message, email, or a tweet. The smartband also vibrates to inform you of incoming notifications. Another feature is that you can also use the smartband to pause music on your smartphone or switch between tracks.

Naturally, the Sony SmartBand 2 works with Sony Xperia smartphones as well as with other Android smartphones running at least 4.4 KitKat (or higher) and iOS devices running at least 8.2 (or higher). Sony promises a two-day battery life for its newest smartband and said that it will be available in 60 countries in 4 colors: black, white, pink, and indigo. It will retail for $132 this September 2015.
