Sony Xperia Z5 Premium w/ 4K Display

At IFA 2015, Sony surprised everyone with the release of the Xperia Z5 Premium along with the just regular Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact. The main highlight of the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium is its 5.5-inch Triluminos display of 4K Ultra HD resolution, which translates to 806 pixels per inch. It's the first phone to sport such a high resolution and pixel density. This means that the Xperia Z5 Premium will upscale all your content to 4K, enhancing any native or third party videos or photos on the screen.

In terms of looks, the Xperia Z5 Premium is undoubtedly Sony as it sticks with its signature OmniBalance design. It comes with a frosted glass and metal frame but with a new elliptical shaped power/lock key, which is outfitted with a fingerprint scanner. This makes the Xperia Z5 Premium one of the first Sony devices to sport such feature. The phablet measures 154.4 mm x 76 mm x 7.8 mm and weighs a hefty 180 grams but for good reason - the device is water and dust resistant. In terms of raw power, ticking inside the premium Sony phablet is the latest 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC with 3GB RAM and 32GB of expandable internal storage.

In the camera department, the Xperia Z5 Premium boasts Sony's newest 23-MP Exmor RS sensor, which comes with phase detection auto-focus (with 192 focus points and 0.03 seconds focusing time) and an LED flash. Naturally, the primary camera is able to record video clips in 4K resolution. A 5-MP Exmor R selfie camera with wide-angle lens can be found in front of the phablet too. Its connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, and LTE support. A large 3,430 mAh battery will also keep its lights on, which Sony said will make the phablet last 2 days with typical use.

The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium runs Android Lollipop out of the box with the latest Xperia UI on top. There is no info yet on pricing but it will surely be an expensive device. It will hit the shelves in November 2015. Any takers?
