Movie Review: Gods of Egypt
Gods of Egypt is American fantasy film featuring ancient Egyptian deities. The film was directed by Alex Proyas and is topbilled by stars like Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Brenton Thwaites, Chadwick Boseman, Elodie Yung, Courtney Eaton, Rufus Sewell, Gerard Butler, and Geoffrey Rush. Filming took place in Australia under the studio Summit Entertainment. With a budget of $140 million, the film will be released in 2D, RealD 3D, and IMAX 3D.Gods of Egypt is of adventure and fantasy genre, which runs for approximately 127 minutes. It's Rated PG-13 in most countries for fantasy violence and action, and some sexuality. It's an entertaining film with lots of action scenes and computer generated imagery (CGI). I must say that it is almost at par with Avatar's graphics. The main actors were good particularly Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Gerard Butler but I think some were badly miscast - the others gods and goddesses. The storyline is easy to follow but very predictable. But it's otherwise, a well-made film. I would watch it more than once given the chance. Ultimately, the film would definitely appeal to those who are fascinated with Egypt's history and culture. And then those who liked films such as The Mummy, 300, Clash of the Titans, and Percy Jackson. I highly recommend you see it.
