Vivo X7 & X7 Plus: The Midrange Duo

The often leaked Vivo X7 and X7 Plus are now official and both are midrange devices. Both are metal clad and yes, they look like iPhone clones. If you can look past that, both Vivo smartphones appear to be well made. The X7 is the smaller of the two. It packs a 5.2-inch Super AMOLED display of 1080p Full HD resolution. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 chipset with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Sadly, it runs on the dated Android 5.1 Lollipop with the FunTouch OS on top. In the camera department, it comes with a 13-MP primary shooter with an f/2.2 aperture, phase detection auto-focus, and dual-tone, dual-LED flash. Oddly, it has a 16-MP selfie camera with a larger f/2.0 aperture. The Vivo X7's connectivity features include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, LTE, GPS, AK4376 32-bit DAC support, and dual-SIM support. It also has a fingerprint scanner embedded on its home button. A large 3,000 mAh battery will keep its lights on.

Meanwhile, the Vivo X7 Plus is full-fledged phablet with a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display of 1080p Full HD resolution. It has the same processor, memory, and storage configuration as its smaller sibling. It has the same software and connectivity features as well. The primary camera of the X7 Plus, however, is a 16-MP Sony IMX298 unit. The phablet also has a larger 4,000 mAh battery.

The Vivo X7 duo will come in gold and rose gold. The X7 will be available starting July 7, 2016 for a pricey $375 while X7 Plus will go on sale on July 15, 2016 for a more expensive price tag.
