Vivo X9, X9 Plus & Xplay 6 Announced

In China, Vivo announced three new smartphones: the X9, the X9 Plus and the Xplay 6. The X9 duo comes with a 20-MP + 8-MP dual front cameras. The 20-MP module was made by Sony and has an f/2.0 aperture while the 8-MP module will be used to capture depth. And that's where their similarities end. The Vivo X9 packs a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display of 1080p Full HD resolution. It is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset with 4GB RAM and 64GB/128GB of internal storage. It has a 16-MP rear camera with an f/2.0 aperture, phase detection auto-focus, and an LED flash. Connectivity-wise, the X9 supports LTE with VoLTE, dual-SIM, AKM4376 DAC, and a fingerprint scanner. A 3,050 mAh battery will keep its lights on.

Meanwhile, the Vivo X9 Plus comes with a larger 5.88-inch Super AMOLED display of 1080p Full HD resolution. Ticking inside is an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 653 SoC with 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It has the same primary camera setup and connectivity options. The X9 Plus also has a larger 4,000 mAh battery. Both smartphones run Android 6.0 Marshmallow with the FunTouch OS on top. They come in either gold or rose gold. Price starts at $405 for the Vivo X9.

Then we have the metal-clad Vivo Xplay 6, which has a 5.5-inch dual curved AMOLED display of Quad HD resolution. Under the hood is a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor with 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Like the X9 and X9 Plus, the Xplay 6 runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with the FunTouch OS 3.0 on top. A large 4,080 mAh battery, with rapid charging system, will keep its lights on. When it comes to photography, the phablet has a dual primary camera setup - a 12-MP Sony IMX362 sensor with 1.4 micron pixels, an f/1.7 aperture, optical image stabilization (OIS), phase detection auto-focus, and a dual-tone, dual-LED flash combined with a 5-MP sensor, which captures depth information. There's also a 16-MP selfie camera with an f/2.0 aperture in front. Connectivity-wise, the Xplay 6 supports LTE, dual-SIM, 3.5 mm headset jack, a dedicated DAC and amp, and a fingerprint scanner. Available in gold and rose gold color options, the Vivo Xplay 6 will retail for $650 starting December 12, 2016.
